Yeah, I'm pretty sure its satire.

But, regardless, I do support voting tests, just to show you have basic knowledge of their positions on stuff.

I remember there was one last election were they said Obama was for what McCain was for on the street to some Obama supporters, and they were like "Oh, yeah abortion is bad." "Oh, yeah, spending is bad." ect.

And thats why I don't think a voting test would ever work. WAY to much room for bias.

Surprisingly, I doubt it is...

1) Her youtube videos are almost never political
2) The last time she did a political~ish video was 60 videos before. And it was this.
3) Her other videos she does seem more literate, though that is most likely because it is on topics she is more comfortable and familiar with (it does appear that she is going from memory, rather than reading a script).

Though, I'm not sure why I didn't remember the OWS gems (probably because I was looking for an Obama supporter that was just like this, shooting a video in their home and this bad). I'll get some up shortly.

I just think we should have people take the immigration test rather then make a new one in order to vote.

Both of the two main puppet parties have their share of idiot outliers like this, which negates any real difference between the two. Even if there is a difference between the two in terms of the number of incompetent cretins, their votes do not have much impact in presidential elections that involve millions of people and rely on an electoral college.

I doubt the idiots are the outliers.

I prefer to disenfranchise the ignorant. If they are more likely to be poor because of their ignorance, that is no skin off my back. How about this, whether you are rich or poor, try to be less ignorant. The world would be a much better place. Accepting ignorance because you don't want to be mean to poor people is liking giving a heroin addict more drugs because you don't want them to suffer through withdraws.

This is incredibly ridiculous. Whether someone meets your definition of 'ignorant' or not is irrelevant. Governmental decisions affect both the enlightened and the ignorant. It is their right to have their voice heard, and it is absolutely necessary for people to have a stake in their society for it to function healthily.

This is misguided as well. Let us focus on the diseases and not simply the symptoms. Our education system clearly fails many students around the country (some students don't take advantage of their great opportunities, on the flipside). Should they be cast away as ignorant, as if it's their own doing?

Also, I would suggest reading a little on rational ignorance: http://en.wikipedia.org...

We could get into Jim Crow. We could get into the fate of societies that have focused on promoting the highly intelligent. But it's unnecessary. The argument for a voting test just has so many holes and certainly does not align with the principles of a free society.

1) rights are a myth.
2) rational ignorance is real, however for voting it goes hand in hand with voter apathy (meaning the rationally ignorant recognize their ignorance and choose not to vote). If they are choosing to vote, they are no longer rationally ignorant.
3) saying that they have a stake, and so must have a right to vote, is like saying that because I'm a custodian at a nuclear power plant, I must have a voice on governmental energy policy (since I have a stake, my job). When it is logically accurate that such a policy would be better in the hands of actually professionals, rather than every Joe Schmo that can trace a stake to the sector.
4) The failings of our education system is directly linked to the ignorant having a significant control over it. So the tests actually do address the disease, not just the symptoms. The only concern would be what steps are taking in attempt to correct ignorance.

How about a simple political literacy test? It would test whether or not you know the system that you're voting in. If you don't know how the system works or what's in the Constitution why should you be allowed to vote in it? You can't drive without taking a test, why should voting be any different?

Sample questions:

How many senators does each state have?
How many chambers of Congress are there?
Is the president directly elected?
etc

Simple questions like that to be sure that voters know the system.

Yup... test on the constitution, and the citizenship test.

I'm sorry, it should not be considered a right to ignorantly vote for your representatives. If you want to vote, I agree you should understand at least the basics.

As long as such a test was distributed evenly and fairly to ALL citizens then it would be legal too.
