Did you vote today?

Please share. You don't have to say who you voted for but merely tell us if you've voted.

Those who don't vote can't complain and we should all take note of the whiners who don't vote but will complain about either party on here.

I got there before the polls opened and still stood in line for an hour and 25 minutes to vote for Romney. Turnout looks awesome, better than I've ever seen, though I can't say how it'll be the rest of the day. A heavy turnout in my area is a big plus for Romney. I hope that's an indicator of how it's going across the nation.

Voted for Gary Johnson. Obama's drone strikes killing civilians troubles me. Romney's too disconnected from reality, and just looking out for his rich cooperation CEOs, bankers, and Wall Street investors. Then again, Obama hasn't done a damn thing about it either..

I really wish there was an easy way to know if your judges should be ousted. Are they throwing kids in prison for pot possession or do they explain jury nullification to the courtroom?

I don't understand that logic. Isn't it the ones who *do* vote that wouldn't be allowed to complain since they're essentially legitimating whatever outcome comes about? But whatevs don't wanna de-rail.

Can't vote.

If I could, it would be for Gary Johnson.

No, those who vote have a right to complain because they did what they could to change things. Those who didn't vote chose to give up their say, so why should anyone listen to them if they didn't care enough to vote for the change they wanted.

I think socialpinko's point is that you are assuming that the state should be able to control you and that some people who refrain are Anarchists. In addition, voting in the election legitimizes the election process. How can you complain if you agree to permit the winner to rule? You have no right to complain if you agree that the winner ought to rule and your candidate loses.

Why should a judge explain jury nullification? The judge is to enforce, rule, and be impartial to the law, while jury nullification goes against it, as the defendant is guilty.

Jury nullification is part of governmental proceedings. It is against the original law to not discuss it.

Jury nullification is part of governmental proceedings. It is against the original law to not discuss it.

Isn't that ONLY if the defense is using a jury nullification defense? You know, where they say they are guilty, but the defense's case addresses why the action was justified and/or not deserving punishment.

If the defense is pleading not guilty with an alibi, how can a jury nullify the action that was contested? Should the jury be allowed to say, "Oh, we think you lied about where you were and your involvment in the crime, but we find you innocent because we don't like the law in this case"? No, the jury was convened to establish the defendant's role in the crime.

Let me rephrase my question: Why should a judge give instructions in jury nullification when that wasn't the defense? Are judges refusing to do this? If so, I assume they are refusing the defense in its entirety, not just in their instructions.
My work here is, finally, done.

Voted for Gary Johnson. I was amazed at how easy the system would be to manipulate. It's just a machine where you press a button that lights up when you choose your candidate(s) and then you submit the vote. I feel like it's so fallible. What if the technology messes up? and the whole process of showing I.D., proof of registeration, was such a joke that it would be so easy to vote multiple times, or work around the system in other ways... I mean I didn't expect anything else, I had just never really thought of it to tell you the truth. Hand counting paper ballots would be far more tedious and would require a tonnn of people but idk, I feel like it would be more of a guarantee against technological failure/corruption.

There probably was voter fraud with the machine. Did you check that it actually submitted for Obama? Romney is paying his way to the top.
