Did you like Twinkies?

Hostess Brands Inc. was put out of business by a union strike.

I hate unions. They're extortionists who have far outstayed their welcome in the business arena. They are the product of another time and have to go.

They wanted higher wages, instead 18,000 people are now unemployed.

Go unions! You rock!

Thoughts?

On a serious note, you are absolutely correct. I hate unions (case in point: Chicago Teacher Union) and the unions do much more harm than good.

18K unemployed is certainly much worse than an extra 2K a year that the government is going to take anyway.

Well I hope they like their new wage: $0 a year as an unemployed worker.

How long can I survive on cans of soup while someone else accumulates wealth? If I'm going to starve to death, I'm not going to enrich the hand that is doing it to me.

In place of what? Now all the unemployed will band together and form the perfect Communist state? Get real.

All this did was put people out of business. Little Debbie or someone will buy Hostess' assets. If you want to be unemployed by all means please do, just don't expect my tax dollars to support your lazy welfare a$s.

+1

If you can work, but refuse to; don't expect my support -- and if I were to become President, you wouldn't get a penny unless you worked for welfare and unemployment benefits (community service).

there is something for you to watch and no-one is forcing you to work, and if you are a good employee, they will naturally be forced to pay you more and give you better benefits if they want to keep you (see the video).

I'm not expecting anybody to support me. I simply said, given the choice between enriching somebody else and starving to death or starving to death and not enriching somebody else, I would pick the latter. I can guarantee that you would the same.

Also, I hope you never have to take welfare, because if you don't deserve it.

I hate unions. They're extortionists who have far outstayed their welcome in the business arena. They are the product of another time and have to go.

On a serious note, you are absolutely correct. I hate unions (case in point: Chicago Teacher Union) and the unions do much more harm than good.

They wanted higher wages, instead 18,000 people are now unemployed.

18K unemployed is certainly much worse than an extra 2K a year that the government is going to take anyway.

Well I hope they like their new wage: $0 a year as an unemployed worker.

I would rather get that than work for cans of soup as I enrich somebody else.

WOW! RoyalPoladin is stupid. She'd rather be unemployed than making a lower wage than what she wants (or rather "thinks" she should have). I HATE UNIONS!

Yeah, I would, and so should everybody else. That way, we can exert free market pressure by choosing not to work for corporate buffoons.

*Facepalm* Royal, let's debate labour unions. Also, I have a really good book for you to read here --> http://www.amazon.com...

You might want to take a few economic courses.

So corporations deserve my labor? I have every right to refuse to work if I do not get paid adequately, as does everybody else.

there is something for you to watch and no-one is forcing you to work, and if you are a good employee, they will naturally be forced to pay you more and give you better benefits if they want to keep you (see the video).

Um, no. They aren't forced to do anything. In a lot of law firms, the best lawyers are not even partner track, and they cannot go elsewhere because they need recommendations, and if you leave, guess what kind of rec you get?

In place of what? Now all the unemployed will band together and form the perfect Communist state? Get real.

All this did was put people out of business. Little Debbie or someone will buy Hostess' assets. If you want to be unemployed by all means please do, just don't expect my tax dollars to support your lazy welfare a$s.

+1

If you can work, but refuse to; don't expect my support -- and if I were to become President, you wouldn't get a penny unless you worked for welfare and unemployment benefits (community service).

You're never going to be come President.

I'm not expecting anybody to support me. I simply said, given the choice between enriching somebody else and starving to death or starving to death and not enriching somebody else, I would pick the latter. I can guarantee that you would the same.

Also, I hope you never have to take welfare, because if you don't deserve it.

Why? Because I want to require working for the unemployment and welfare benefits?

LOL, I love this. Tons of conservative ad homs. I support the idea that people should be free to refuse to work if they are not receiving adequate pay and everybody starts insulting me. You don't own me, and neither does any corporation.

1. I wasn't even responding to you, so thanks for butting into a conversation.

2. I support public works projects and/or government contracts for people who need support in lieu of handouts. It's actually a "radical" Leftist idea that conservatives will die attempting to block.

In fact, the idea of directly requiring people on welfare to work is a Marxist idea.

"From each according to his ability (no free handouts), to each according to his needs."

Congrats, Micro, you are a Marxist.

Actually, it'll be business as usual. That's the word from Hostess.
Think'st thou heaven is such a glorious thing?
I tell thee, 'tis not half so fair as thou
Or any man that breathes on earth.

Topic title: A union has kiled a hostees.

The comment: The Unions caused the business to fail

The article: After workers went on strike, a business failed.

In short, people deciding not to work = unions kill peope.

I saw one ad hom...

Anyways, people do have the right to refuse work but these people are going to expect welfare and pensions etc.

If you refuse to work you should get nothing in return. No welfare, nothing at all.
