Just over 147 years, which isn't all that close in my opinion.

I think we may be a little closer to something more akin to a revolutionary war. Possibly a secession by a State or two. Thankfully, Social networking works just as well to quell such movements as it does to enable them to be organized.

Depending on how badly the Republicans sell out people of faith and people who believe in personal responsibility, small govt and self reliance over the next four years, I would predict 5 years. If they hold their ground which wont matter much because more than half the nation is sufficiently dependant on govt and to scared to live without it, it might take ten years. No more than twenty, Just exactly how long can a nation run a trillion dollar deficit every single year until people wake up and realize they have no future and storm Washington and execute all the scum that are doing this crap.

15-30 years max. It will be a bloody, bloody war between hardline Republicans (mostly southern), and a Liberal president. Most Americans will be neutral.

What about the guns flying off the shelves and Obama trying to pass these gun laws?

That seems like a major conflict to me.

What are the possible resolves?

What gun laws? There aren't any serious proposed gun-control laws that would cause enough anger to cause a civil war.

I agree with this except that how many remain neutral will depend on what specifically causes the war.

The U.S. just passed a law saying people who rebel or do anything that is against what America stands for is to be shot on site. The U.S. also just bought 1700 tanks, 1700 assault rifles, and about 8 million rounds of ammo, all to be distributed through out the U.S., A civil war is closer than people think.

I think in the next 70 years or so we will have an internal war - Civil or Revolutionary.

I think religious states will probably secede from the Union. Christianity especially seems like they will leave at any moment or completely revolt.

^ Either the above happens or religion takes over the government and the sensible states secede.

With Texas and Florida becoming more blue, there soon will not be a red southern state worth keeping.

So are you saying states will get kicked out instead of us trying to prevent them leaving?

I think that every year the USA should vote 1 state out of the country, until the most productive states remain

If you look at every civil war in history, the they all have the same trigger;
An overly Centralized of government for a diverse population.

The larger and more diverse the population the more decentralization is required. Centralization is only good when the population is small with little to no diversity.

The only problem with that is that sometimes that one year a state might not be productive, but just because of a mix up and a bad rep

Oh if only that could be true. I would move to that kicked out state in a heartbeat. The promise of a new hope and dream. A state kicked from the union would thrive beyond the unions wildest dreams. It would be unshackled from all of the absurdness of the current state of govt.
