Everyone post what they think would work best to cure the ills of the American economy right now.

I think a combination of Keynesian Economics (sorry my Libertarian friends), and Supply-Side.

Loose business regulations mixed with progressive taxation would actually work great right now. Once our economy improved, we would slowly go back to the flat tax and cut the gov't spending. I don't agree with high gov't spending in a good economy, but Keynesian Economics combined with Supply-Side are what led to the Golden Age of Capitalism.

My main idol for economics is Charles Kindleberger.

I know this is confusing, but both can work, if you decrease barriers of business regulation and then also use progressive taxation, it can help a downturn economy.
