At the Pro-choice rally in Texas for Wendy Davis you see placards saying:

"Trust Women"
"Politicians are not doctors"
"Perry will never be pregnant"

Democrats proclaim on Twitter:

"Shouldn't it be women and doctors making decisions about women's bodies not old male politicians?"

"Politicians are not doctors! Stop trying to legislate my body!"

My response:

Great arguments against Obamacare!

"Trust women to, you know, let Big Daddy Government tell them what is good for them. Politicians are not doctors, which is why they totally should take over our health care. Obamacare, baby!"

"Healthcare commissars" who don't have to worry about being elected by the American people will have undemocratic, totalitarian powers to cut Medicare spending and make decisions on your behalf as a so-called Independent Payment Advisory Board."

https://www.newsmaxstore.com...

"According to an analysis just published by the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com...), healthy people will pay double or triple their current health insurance rates under Obamacare. Rates for those with chronic disease, however, will be reduced as all the healthy people subsidize their disease lifestyles."

http://www.naturalnews.com...

"If 1 in 5 U.S. adults smoke, and 1 in 3 are obese, why not just get off their backs and let them go on with their (probably shortened) lives? Because it"s not just about them, say some health economists, bioethicists and public health researchers. "Your freedom is likely to be someone else"s harm," said Daniel Callahan, senior research scholar at a bioethics think-tank, the Hastings Center"

That"s the rationale for a provision in the Affordable Care Act " "Obamacare" to its detractors " that starting next year allows health insurers to charge smokers buying individual policies up to 50 percent higher premiums. A 60-year-old could wind up paying nearly $5,100 on top of premiums."

"Disease lifestyles?" You realize that some of these chronic diseases are ones that people are born with, and which aren't a result of their actions, right?

I'm sorry, would you rather have your rates go up as a non-smoker because of someone else's choice to smoke? It makes sense that health conditions that are not the result of someone's choices should not affect their rates, and that conditions that are a result of someone's choices should affect their rates. Would you rather have it the other way around, where you are punished for things outside of your control while conscious health decisions that you make don't affect your rates?
