America was founded on an ideal, for the Enlightment Rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The Patriot Act, which greatly increase the federal government's pursuit of information, mainly without warrants, breaks this completely. This act basically destroys our Constitutional right to protect against against unreasonable searches and seizures, and allows the feds to wiretap our phones, break into houses without notice, and search through our records without our permission. They also allow deportation of immigrants suspected, but not convicted, of terrorism, also allowing detainment for a unrestricted amount of time. The rights on which America was founded are mocked by the act that insults our very rights, and it is unacceptable. If our founding fathers rose from our graves, they would rip the act to pieces.

The Patriot Act doesn't provide feds with limitless power to spy on innocent Americans. It gives agents the same tools used to investigate and prosecute drug dealers and rapists to track suspected terrorists. The FISA court and Congress keep close watch on these tools. All search warrants for wiretapping procedures must be obtained from a district court judge.

In order to deport a suspected immigrant, the Attorney General must certify them as a threat to our national security.

"The certification must be based upon reasonable grounds to believe that the alien has or will commit espionage or sabotage; attempt an overthrow of the government; has or will commit terrorist acts; or is otherwise engaged in activities that threaten national security. Following detention, the Attorney General must place the alien in removal proceedings or file criminal charges against the alien. This must be done within seven days following commencement of the detention or the alien must be released"
