Just before an interview, Paul and McConnell were talking strategy.

Both of them admitted that 1) They were doing this to seek to defund Obamacare, and 2) that lying to the american people due to the Democrats saying "we will not negotiate" doesn't "poll favorably".

Essentially, this shows that they're actually not willing to negotiate unless Obamacare is defunded, and that these people claiming they're willing to compromise is just to try and gain favor in the polls, to which it is implied they will not actually follow through on their promise. (Same view privately as publicly)

So ... any Republicans want to continue claiming it's democrats faults? These two essentially admitted that they're trying to gain the upper hand by stopping it. Essentially, now that Obamacare is law, the question is now can we take social security away from people, and I think the reason why republicans oppose this so much, is because the people will obviously claim "no" on that one when they collect the money. Unless they benefit nothing from it.

I think Clinton has a good point on this one...
Thank you for voting!

They weren't caught lying, they were caught telling the truth! If they're off camera, who are they lying to? Lmao.

Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell are politicians, and you're surprised that they are interested in winning political battles? Give me a fvcking break. Of all the politicians, at least these guys believe in their convictions!

If they believed so strongly in their convictions then why couldn't they just state their position that they believe it is worth shutting down the government to defund Obamacare and defend it, as opposed to generating poll tested talking points designed to place blame on democrats for it?

That is not their position, Republicans passed 8 appropriations bills to fund government and 4 compromised continuing resolutions.

Harry Reid for two years has failed to pass appropriations bills, he brought us to the brink. Congress isn't supposed to even have CR's, the Republican piece meal approach to individual appropriations funding bills are traditional rules which is how Congress is supposed to legislate.

Yes, Republicans did use the brink of a shutdown to gain leverage and negotiating ground, but it is the Democrats who are ultimately shutting down the government because their position is give us all of Obamacare, give us 100% of what we want, or else we will shutdown government. And oh, btw, we're going to spend more and deploy more resources just to make the shutdown more painful, score political points, let people suffer, then blame Republicans.

That is not their position, Republicans passed 8 appropriations bills to fund government and 4 compromised continuing resolutions.

The 8 appropriations bills were nothing more then their strategy to defund Obamacare by picking and choosing what parts of the government they wanted to fund. Obviously none of these bills would have included Obamacare. The 4 continuing resolutions were not compromises. Compromise is what happens in a negotiation. This is not a negotiation. The democrats don't want anything, just fund the damn government.

Harry Reid for two years has failed to pass appropriations bills, he brought us to the brink. Congress isn't supposed to even have CR's, the Republican piece meal approach to individual appropriations funding bills are traditional rules which is how Congress is supposed to legislate.

Please explain to me how Harry Reid is to blame for the fact that congress can't agree on a CR.

That is just plain stupid. Obamacare is the law of the land. They don't want Obamacare, they already have it. I don't know how you can sit there with a straight face and admit that the republicans are using the shutdown itself as political leverage and yet still blame the democrats for it. That is amazing.
