At first I thought that this would be something fairly straightforward, since it seems odd that anyone would be fired for not getting vaccinated.

Then I saw that this was a pregnant nurse fearing that the vaccine would harm their unborn child, and thought a few things:
1. Anyone in a healthcare profession should know that a vaccine wouldn't harm their unborn child.
2. Anyone in a healthcare profession (especially if they work in a hospital) should be vaccinated so they don't become a medium for the flu to spread through.
3. This is beginning to sound like those anti-vaccination morons whom I have little respect for. At least this person has some medical experience, though.

Then I saw that this was from Alex Jones, which alerted me to not take anything said in the video seriously at all.

Then I saw that he was using it to promote his own alternative remedies, and determined that this was obviously an attempt at marketing a product.

That being said, I do hope that the nurse vaccinated her child.

Also, oh god the comments. THE COMMENTS. How can we be such an advanced species, yet with such idiocy present in our society? I'm tempted to calmly point out errors and provide information to clear up misunderstandings among these comments as an experiment. I don't expect much.

No. Vaccines contain neurotoxins, and they can and do harm the fetus. You are saying what the globalist gov wants you to say.
"Then I saw that this was from Alex Jones, which alerted me to not take anything said in the video seriously at all." Logical fallacy. Address the issue with relevant comments, or that means you cannot do so logically.
3."" This is beginning to sound like those anti-vaccination morons whom I have little respect for. At least this person has some medical experience, though."" Ad hom attack fallacy. Disagreement does not diminish IQ or logic. Try again.
2." Anyone in a healthcare profession (especially if they work in a hospital) should be vaccinated so they don't become a medium for the flu to spread through." People have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. Not your body? Not your choice.
1." Anyone in a healthcare profession should know that a vaccine wouldn't harm their unborn child." One word: neurotoxons.

These were my thoughts as well.

Flu shots are safe and pregnant women should get vaccinated. People working in healthcare especially should get one.

This women's employers, being medical professionals, have a policy common in healthcare practices and are experts in medicine. Seems like her firing was justified.

There are vaccines (specifically inactivated viruses) that are entirely safe for pregnant women and recommended so that contracting flu doesn't complicate the pregnancy and harm the fetus.

There are naturally vaccines that can be harmful during pregnancy, though I'm certain in the specific case in question that the medical experts involved knew exactly which vaccine to give this woman.

There is no evidence that thimerosal (this is what you are talking about right?) causes developmental issues in children or harm to anyone. Vaccines prevent far more harm than they cause, and any harm they might cause is absolutely minimal, rare and the exception, whereas the harm they prevent is demonstrably hugely significant.

But either way, for those especially concerned, thimerosal-free flu vaccines are available.

The internet has access to many reputable sources. You can also consult any number of healthcare professionals, including any local pharmacist for information on flu vaccines.

I didn't suspect any malice so no worries.... But your skepticism should first be reserved for those claiming that vaccines (which are well established to prevent flu and eradicate disease) are harmful and some type of government conspiracy to accomplish whatever.

I didn't suspect any malice so no worries.... But your skepticism should first be reserved for those claiming that vaccines (which are well established to prevent flu and eradicate disease) are harmful and some type of government conspiracy to accomplish whatever.
Thanks hun. I saw a long list of ingredients and I was like wow. I will research again to be sure.

Some things that deflect badly placed scepticism in future, a few thoughts I always have:

1) what would the media do? All private media industries, including mainstream media, are driven by profit. The BBC via complex interior regulation is driven by a desire to help all (which arguably creates a left bias but ignoring this for the moment). If there is vaccines being given out which are hugely dangerous an especially promoted by government, mainstream press would have a field day with their resources, and would go on a frenzy, similar to the MP scandals in the UK and Snowden and the NSA/GCHQ by the guardian and Der Spiegel, then other papers when they get these paper' sources.

2) What benefit is there compared to the risk? A working vaccine would be a lot safer and less risky than the fake ones. Moreover when someone does any study showing the vaccine is a fake, or when someone invents a working vaccine, this plan fails catastrophically. This applies more to other conspiracies like moon landing, but it's relevant in most cases. The risks are extreme.

3) finally, take it to its logical conclusion. If fake vaccines worked, or refusing vaccines get you fired, then how many people would have been fired for not taking the vaccine? Again! This applies more to other examples but still, holds relevance here.

This is mostly because Alex Jones, a severe idiot and subverter of truth has been brought up on this discussion, and we ought to buffer against him.
Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to be Gay, he'll positively influence the GDP.

While other types of vaccines are in development, there are two major types used today. One is a dead virus. This can include just capsid proteins from the virus, or whole virus. The good thing about this type is that there's no chance of infection whatsoever - it's dead. The bad is that you have to get this type more often, since the immune response is relatively small.

The second is an attenuated virus. These are viruses that are still alive, but somehow handicapped to ensure that it cannot infect humans. The good of these is that they last quite a while and are generally more effective. The bad is that viruses like to mutate, and sometimes an attenuated virus can become pathogenic again.

So there are concerns to be had, I won't deny it, though only with the attenuated form. A vaccine lot must always be tested for the presence of any toxins, so that's an extremely rare case that is only a problem if the company producing them does a bad job. Formulations for the vaccines also have to be thoroughly tested and injected, without the virus, into patients without issue. So that is an even less common problem, and ever since people stopped preserving their vaccines in mercury (seriously, they did this), there's been little cause for concern when it comes to the link between vaccines and autism, though some will claim that the junk science on this topic is accurate.

So I guess it's feasible that this nurse, fearing that an attenuated virus vaccine (which, by the way, usually has strict regulations on it stating that it shouldn't be used on pregnant women) would take issue with getting the vaccine. But, as has been stated before, she should know better. She should know that the vaccine she'd be getting will not endanger her child - that's why most companies producing these vaccines tend to test in pregnant mothers at some point. Her commitment to her child is endearing, but her lack of knowledge on the subject and willingness to place her patients at risk should she become ill is not.

If you're referring to thiomersal (which is the part that has mercury), then your point is irrelevant, since it is easy to get a thiomersal-free vaccine. Thiomersal is only used for multi-dose vials so that they don't get contaminated. Single-dose vials don't need this, but if you go into a minute clinic and ask for a flu shot, odds are they ordered multi-dose vials. However, if you go to your doctor and request a thiomersal-free flu shot, they will probably ask why you need it to be thiomersal-free, but they will give you one. Studies have been done, and the level of thiomersal is absolutely insignificant, especially considering how not all of it would go to the fetus.

If you're referring to formaldehyde, then your point is misleading, since it is used to deactivate the virus in the vaccine, and most of it is removed before packaging. Again, the amount that remains is incredibly insignificant. In addition, formaldehyde is produced within the body as part of making amino acids. A newborn of average weight contains 50-70 times more formaldehyde than a single vaccine has. This page from the FDA answers this question, and includes citations. I have access to a database of academic journals, and if you have trouble accessing any of the cited works (especially if they are not open-access), I can help you get them.

A small amount of research into toxicology would show you that the dose matters with any toxin or poison. Water is a toxin, if you drink too much of it (which we call "overhydration"). And, of course, not all of any chemical goes to the fetus - the vaccine is obviously intended to work on the mother, and it isn't being injected directly into the fetus, so the mother's immune system gets the first opportunity to react to the vaccine.

I'm also interested in knowing what you are accusing the globalist government of wanting to do, as well as how you know for sure that these substances harm the fetus.

"Then I saw that this was from Alex Jones, which alerted me to not take anything said in the video seriously at all."

Logical fallacy. Address the issue with relevant comments, or that means you cannot do so logically.

Alex Jones has a bit of a track record for stretching the truth (and that is an understatement). I have every reason to be skeptical of his claims.

3."" This is beginning to sound like those anti-vaccination morons whom I have little respect for. At least this person has some medical experience, though.""

Ad hom attack fallacy. Disagreement does not diminish IQ or logic. Try again.

I'm mainly referring to the type of people who I could win this with: http://scepticsbook.com...

As you can see, there is no need to diminish logic and IQ where they are not present. She never stated what stage of pregnancy she was in, and I think it would be reasonable to be hesitant to take any vaccine if she were in the first month or so of pregnancy. I don't see her specifically advocating faith healing, and she never said anything about refusing to have her children vaccinated.

2." Anyone in a healthcare profession (especially if they work in a hospital) should be vaccinated so they don't become a medium for the flu to spread through."

People have the right to choose what to do with their bodies. Not your body? Not your choice.

Yes, she did have the right to not take the vaccine, which she exercised. Her employer also has the right to fire her if she is going to be a risk to other patients. This was not a government regulation, this is a policy that the hospital chose to adopt. They could require the nurses to dress up as French maids if they wanted to if there were no regulations requiring hospital personnel to wear a scrub or similar garment. This case would be the same - dress up as a French maid, or don't bother going to work tomorrow.

1." Anyone in a healthcare profession should know that a vaccine wouldn't harm their unborn child."

One word: neurotoxons.

Once again, the dose makes the toxin. It is very unlikely that the insignificant amounts of formaldehyde and thiomersal in a flu shot would cause a severe reaction in anyone. I would see more reason to be concerned about the potential of getting the flu while pregnant, considering the limitations on what kinds of drugs could be taken.
