If nato won't respond quickly nato is really no union at all turky sold out to russia...! Read what w.n.d reported..!
As Turkey, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, turns away from its Western links, it is aligning itself more and more with Iran, Syria and Russia, especially because of its quickly developing energy and trade connections to the central part of what was the old Soviet Union, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin. From a strategic standpoint, the development gives Moscow an opportunity to further undermine a plan by NATO to spread its security arrangement further east in a region Moscow considers to be its sphere of influence. During a recent visit to Moscow to meet with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed multi-billion dollar agreements on trade and energy. While both parties agreed to increase trade from the current $35 billion to $100 billion within the next five years, the most significant development was an agreement in their strategic relationship on energy cooperation.(Story continues below)   In addition to concessions on various pipelines between the two countries, Erdogan pledged to pursue Russian construction and operation of Turkey's first nuclear power plant.

"Treason"? Banker, I tolerate your ramblings, but you're an idiot to say that any "treason" is involved. Turkey can ally itself and make whatever concessions it damn well wants - it isn't beholden to NATO.

Besides, NATO is a fractured union of Western European countries, with Eastern Europeans barely involved. Today it has little to no importance or weight except as a forum for military strategy. Its not entirely pointless, but its getting there.

Turkey is still heavily pro-EU, and in a lot of cases, most EU members are supporting this. Why? Because it gives them more influence, via their influence in Turkey and its ever-lasting bid to become part of the EU, over the Russian energy supplies that will go to European markets.

Some "treason."

I agree with your view on the declining status of nato as a military union, however if there was ever a simbolic deciding moment to signify this its now...!
This is about much more then a trade pact its a nuclear partnership...! How is one in a union fighting russia ,hiring them to partner in building their weapon arsonal.?

All this just surfaced the well known fact that nato is a paper tiger..!

"Nuclear partnership," lol. What use would Turkey need for nuclear weapons? It is allied with the US and I believe there is already several security arrangements to that extent. And against whom will Turkey use these nukes against? Greece?

All this just surfaced the well known fact that nato is a paper tiger..!

Everyone knows that. Are you just catching on now?

Actually, history says that it would probably be Armenia XD

Well saudi,s have nuke..! Whom are they going to use it against...?

On a other note we have to watch this turn of events carefully..!Since nato might be so unimportant, since as you said it was always nonsignificant . Russia could just have a trade interest ,to use turkey to bring russian into opec ..! This would be importand to have gazprom as a big player in the international market...!

The Sauds don't have nukes, banker. And if they did, they'd attack Iran.

I never said it was "always nonsignificant." NATO was very important during the Cold War.

Russia could just have a trade interest ,to use turkey to bring russian into opec ..! This would be importand to have gazprom as a big player in the international market...!

... Gazprom already is a big player in the international market. It provides Europe's energy supply, for Christ's sake.

As far as saudi nukes here is wht wnd. Reports : "The Saudis are confident they have a nuclear option via Pakistan," said the security official. "The Pakistani nukes are also Saudi nukes." The official said an agreement between the two countries was secretly inked seven years ago, although at the time such a pact was strongly denied by both Saudi and Pakistani officials. Pakistan in the late 1990s became the seventh country to successfully develop and test nuclear weapons. The Pakistani arsenal is estimated at between 35 and 95 warheads, according to the U.S. Navy Center for Contemporary Conflict. !!
And regarding the issue of nato you have to make up your mind if in your opinion its a well known fact or its a recent discovery...!!!

Also true russia is big in oil but ifit will unite with opec its going to be huge...!!!

Mhm. Anyone with half a brain knows that Pakistan's nuclear weapons won't go anywhere but India.

Sure, but why would they? The Russians are in competition with that cartel, and they're doing well against them. For what reason would Russia join with its competitors?
