And no, don't dismiss the claim because of the source. Let's have a rational and civil discussion, please.

Link says: A senior Homeland Security (DHS) official confirmed to Congress on Wednesday that militants associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) are planning to enter the United States via the porous southern border.

Francis Taylor, under secretary for intelligence and analysis at DHS, told senators during a hearing that ISIL supporters are known to be plotting ways to infiltrate the United States through the border.

"There have been Twitter, social media exchanges among ISIL adherents across the globe speaking about that as a possibility," Taylor told Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) in response to a question about "recent reports on Twitter and Facebook of messages that would urge infiltration into the U.S. across our southwestern border."

"Certainly any infiltration across our border would be a threat," Taylor said, explaining that border security agents are working to tighten measures that would prevent this from taking place.

"I"m satisfied we have the intelligence and the capability on our border that would prevent that activity," Taylor said.

Nothing about this should surprise anyone, and the fact that President Obama made a substantive address last night where he said that we must "bring the fight" to ISIL, in combination with the fact that he's totally shifted the focus of his foreign policy to degrading and destroying ISIL, suggests that the White House thought that the threat they posed to US Security -perhaps through this, and perhaps through other avenues of harming the United States- was credible enough to merit a response. Indeed, what Obama didn't say is even more revealing than what he did. He isn't doing this because ISIL beheaded journalists, or because they're executing children for refusing to convert to their bastardized variety of Islam. He's doing it because they're threatening the homeland.

It's always interesting to me how you post stuff. You act as if you have an idea what you're talking about, but literally everyone here knows you're bluffing -and they know this because at no point have you ever made a single productive post on any political topic at any time across any account you've ever registered on this site.

Why's that not a good reason? In any case, Iraq benefits in the process of us defending ourselves.

Yeah, if you watch him from time to time he has the same pattern. He baits people to antagonize them because, like the stereotypical irishman that he is, he lives for the fight. But, as the great philosopher Bon Jovi once said, "you live for the fight when that's all that you've got."

The thing is that the last time Badger and I quibbled, he went begging to Ore-Ele and Airmax to pull me off.

I didn't say that it wasn't a good reason. As it happens, I think it was irresponsible of the president to let it even get to this point when it was adamantly clear that this would happen. The only reason that ISIL poses a threat to the homeland now is because Obama was too naive to think that it would ever get to this point.
