Got this email from my mom. Thought I'd share it. What side of the fence are you on?

The Fence Test

You can't get any more accurate than this!

Which side of the fence?

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.
If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a Democrat decides he needs health care,
he demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended ".

(Well, I forwarded it!)

Nope, Democrats just don't buy guns if they don't like them. Democrats advocate "gun control". It's just like saying speed limits are "outlawing cars".

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

Never heard any democrat say that. Sounds like you got it from a satirical website like the Onion or National report.

Allowing same sex marriage =/= censorship/legislated respect

Wrong! They want to take our guns away. That's their ultimate goal.

Wrong again. http://mrconservative.com...

If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

HA! They are trying to get legislation passed that would make it a crime to so much as disagree with the gay lifestyle. So much for free speech.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.

I'm not saying that Republicans have never needed government assistance. But the ones who get on it, and stay on it, are mostly democrats.

No. It isn't. http://www.theblaze.com...

Not any mention. It's any publicly funded praise or criticism from the government.

If it were just that, I might agree with you. But the radical democrats want any mention of God removed from every public venue. They will not rest until we become a totally atheist society. That is their ultimate goal. Never doubt it.

Can you provide a non biased source for that? And just because a state has more republicans doesn't mean republicans are receiving the majority of the benefits. That's what's know as a logical fallacy.

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

The thinking of those of us who view the legal and easy availability of lethal firearms in our society to be a dreadfully unfortunate thing tends to have a bit more substance to it than merely "I don't like guns, therefore outlaw them for everyone". Methinks that perhaps you're simply projecting the typically simpleminded thought processes of rightist onto leftists.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

I guess that I'm an exception then, as I'm a vegetarian left-winger with no interest in banning meat.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

And is the Democrat somehow wrong to do so?

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.

Perhaps the Democrat simply possesses the ethical enlightenment to apprehend the ontological truth of fundamental interdependence of life, and the moral implication that we should all care for one another. Conversely, perhaps the conservative simply and sadly suffers from a lack of such rudimentary existential enlightenment and should therefore be pitied, and his views chalked up to moral and spiritual ignorance.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.

Really, are you going to attempt to claim that its leftists and not the folks on the religious right who are the paragons of intolerance.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

Firstly, not all conservatives are inclined to separate religion and politics. As you perhaps might have heard, Christian conservatives are somewhat notorious for yearning to impose their theological views by way of anti-choice activism, anti-gay stances, replacing public school biology text books that feature the theory of evolution with texts designed to indoctrinate young minds with young earth creationism, by requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments in public places, and so on.

Secondly, not everyone on the left is simplistically anti-religious. Look at an eminent Marxist intellectual such as Terry Eagleton, for instance, you'd have quite a tough time indeed portraying him as anti-religious!

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a Democrat decides he needs health care,
he demands that the rest of us pay for his.

Again, I refer you to the ethical enlightenment of the Democrat and his awareness that health care is in fact a basic human right, not merely the privilege of the well-heeled or well-insured. The conservative, on the other hand, seems to find such enlightenment to be anathema (indeed, his sham right-to-life sensibilities are promptly and tellingly out the window when it comes to the issue of our entitlement to health and life-preserving medical care).

If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended ".

Well, could this perhaps be, rather obviously, because it's designed to favor and flatter conservatives, and to portray left-wingers in a distinctly negative light? Or are you entirely oblivious to its unconcealed bias?!

Well, I forwarded it

Why would I wish to do so, it's rather biased, stereotyping, and simpleminded stuff. It's certainly not the sort of thing that one should promote.
Yo, all of my subliterate conservative criticasters who find perusing and processing the sesquipedalian verbiage of my posts to be such a bothersome brain-taxing chore, I have a new nickname for you. Typo correction. Don't know the accuracy, but this looks pretty across the board to me.
The stats you speak of, as I recall, are about getting more in federal monies than they pay in in taxes, but that isn't welfare per se, it is money for roads and schools, too.
My work here is, finally, done.

You've admitted that you don't know where the money goes. Also, is social security included in those figures? That is not a handout. There are also programs like WIC. And I'm still waiting for your source.

More likely, you're a RINO. Republican in name only. You are blind to not to see at least a little truth in these statements. Sure, it's exaggerated, but liberal democrats have tried to shut down businesses, not to mention TV and radio personalities that they don't like. It's a matter of public record. Every statement I posted has a grain of truth to it. I'm not saying that all democrats are like this, but the ones in power are.

Posts like this is exactly why republicans are portrayed as arrogant and selfish losers by democrats. I'm a republican, and I'm embarrassed that stuff like this exists.

Some of this is true, but in general, this is stereotyping and unfair.

How is it unfair? True patriots are in a war for the soul of America, against these people. The radical elements of the democratic party are pulling the strings, right now. They want to control us. They want to take away our freedoms. You'll have to excuse me if I couldn't care less, if someone's feelings get hurt.
