"Starting in 2013, ....you'd face an additional 3.8 percent tax on unearned income such as dividends and interest over the threshold."

Starting to look more and more appetizing.

Gov't taxes what it gives you? If it does, they'll just raise the value of welfare.
It is odd when one's capacity for compassion is measured not in what he is willing to do by his own time, effort, and property, but what he will force others to do with their own property instead.

Of course. I'm trying to figure out what the government decides is "un-earned" income, though. If profits from owning part of a company are suddenly unearned, then why not all profits?

Certainly, though, government subsidies and welfare checks are un-earned.
