stupid farmers.

or even more appropriately: stupid politicians.
"He who does not know how to put his will into things at least puts a meaning into them: that is, he believes there is a will in them already."

Metaphysics:
"The science.. which deals with the fundamental errors of mankind - but as if they were the fundamental truths."

I'd love for anyone who supports agricultural subsidies to speak up.

Left-wing people hate agricultural subsidies as an environmental problem. Right-wing people hate agricultural subsidies as a free market interference. Moderates hate agricultural subsidies for both reasons.

Pretty much the only people who don't hate agricultural subsidies are Big Agriculture and the major corporations.

I doubt you'll find anyone like this here, though I'm all ears.

My high school was full of center-left students who hearted agricultural subsidies as "ZOMG CHEAPER FOOD." So blame stupid people.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

But then the federal government destroys the food, intending to make food more expensive. Isn't that great? Pay them to make it, take it, destroy it. Essentially burning money.
It is odd when one's capacity for compassion is measured not in what he is willing to do by his own time, effort, and property, but what he will force others to do with their own property instead.

Actually it isn't burned mainly just sent out for charity.

Also most of the way they increase the price isn't by making it then burning it but by paying farmers not to farm which essentially is full-fledged welfare for perfectly capable farmers who could get more economically beneficial jobs otherwise.
