i really don't know how to start these things...

well, comon's thread got me thinking about a democracy as he defined it. he stated that it would not provide a legal safeguard for the rights of the minority and would be controlled by passion, which i fully agree with. but what if that type of government was tweaked so that people had to have liscences to vote in specific fields. i think this would be a much better idea. this would be a world governed by only logic and corruption would be almost impossible.

My personal opinion is a decentralization, minimalization and redesignation of control.

Workers should vote on how their work-place is run.

Drivers should vote on how the roads they use are run.

News should be run by and voted on by the viewers.

who's to determine what licenses/departments are necessary?

Who determines who gets licenses?

what's to prevent corruption?

lol no corruption when you've basically added some kind of board that determines who does and does not get to vote on certain issues? don't sound like they'd issue licenses only to people who agree with them at all... >.>

there are a few kinks to be worked out. i understand that some issues might directly involve more than one field, but i'm sure we could come up with something.

the amount of people that would need to be corrupted. the system of government we currently have does have this.

Aristocracy. Rule by the royal or rule by the talented and educated. This form is the latter version.

This isn't an example of "no government." It's replacing tryanny with tryanny.

You were acting as if democracy is some new radical system of freedom. Unless you described democracy without knowing that you did.

I know it's democracy. But it's democracy directed in certain areas by the certain people which it effects most. I would like at least a legitimate criticism.

I thought you said you were a Democratic-Republican?

Any way, I prefer a decentralization of power as opposed to a designated authority telling people what to do.

To be specific, my brand of democracy is both voluntary and direct.
