My opinions were pretty close to this. However, the methodology of the graph comes from a Lancet (I think) article I read a while ago.

The biggest issue with the study is that part of the "harm" included cost to society--i.e. driving accidents, ER, etc. And although this needs to be measured, to understand actual harm (harm to self and others) that method is not always correct. Alcohol is terrible for you, but it must be noted the reason it ranks so high is not because it is going to kill you in ten seconds, but because of the enormous costs. And the costs are due to high usage rates.

For personal harm, I would say that picture is fairly accurate--even though I would probably bump marijuana up and alcohol down a bit (not saying either are better/worse than the other).

Yes the bottom picture (Economist) is representing the Lancet study I was critical of above. I would have to read the other sources in order to tell you if the first and other graphs are correct.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting Wallstreet.

Wow, ecstasy is so less harmful than I thought. They can't stop bashing that drug on the TV. Interesting.

It's less harmful than most people think, but the research is still unclear on the damage to serotonin-containing neurons. Don't want to try it until that's figured out.
