It's good to know what's going on in the world so you a) know why things are happening in your community around you (gas prices, heightened police activity etc) and b) it helps for you to form valid opinions on current events. It's hard to make a claim about the Iranian nuclear deal talks if you don't know the situation in Yemen, Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. It's all intertwined.
No one normal accomplished anything meaningful in this world.

I find it interesting; it's this particular source that I enjoy. To begin with, he comes from a country which is like the Switzerland of Central Asia, so he has a very neutral view, and he's also extremely intelligent and knowledgeable himself.

His other bit on terrorism:
