Agreed. This agrees with another source on world politics that I enjoy.
"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace. It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

I suppose it all is just for enjoyment. I have this friend who keeps worrying that she "should" keep up to date on world news and I always say why? If you don't enjoy it.

It's good to know what's going on in the world so you a) know why things are happening in your community around you (gas prices, heightened police activity etc) and b) it helps for you to form valid opinions on current events. It's hard to make a claim about the Iranian nuclear deal talks if you don't know the situation in Yemen, Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. It's all intertwined.

I find it interesting; it's this particular source that I enjoy. To begin with, he comes from a country which is like the Switzerland of Central Asia, so he has a very neutral view, and he's also extremely intelligent and knowledgeable himself.

His other bit on terrorism:

It's good that I enjoy learning about it, but I also see it as a civic duty which every person ought to engage in.
