Mexico is by far the only country with the worst crimes in history (in my opinion). It's full of the most ruthless and violent gangs, drug wars, etc. Shoot outs between police and criminals are common. Alot of poverty you wouldn't believe which is why people are experts in robbing you. They will take everything from you. If you go to Mexico as a tourist, you have a high risk of being shot by a gang whether on a border or in a cross fire. It's gone so out of control that the police are working for the gangs because they're not being paid enough by the gov. There's no resources to fix the country.

Just recently, around 40 students protesting against the gov. were executed by a gang and it is now easy to get away with murder. Can you imagine?

All i have to say is, i feel Mexico is doomed unless America can help out.

I have to disagree with a lot of the stuff here. While it is true that Mexico is having a lot of problems right now, saying that it's the only country where these types of crimes happen is nonsense. Look at Zaire, the Balkans, the entire Middle East, and Sudan. And that's just in the last 20-30 years.

Also, your claim about going there as a tourist is flat out wrong. Maybe if you go and advertise the fact that you're a rich American and go to the absolute worst parts of the country, but if you travel intelligently the risk is minimal. I have gone to Mexico several times the last few years, and did not ever feel unsafe. It's all about where you go and how you travel.

Lastly, it's ironic that you state Mexico is doomed unless America helps out, because most of the problems in Mexico were actually caused by the United States. The drug cartels wouldn't be as powerful if they didn't have customers (read: American drug users). Also many of the weapons they get a hold of come from the U.S. And lastly, Mexico's obesity problem comes from American companies like coca cola flooding the country with cheap unhealthy foods and drinks.

Ultimately, you are correct though in saying that Mexico is going through some turbulent times. I hope the US and Mexico are able to work together to combat the drug problem that affects both our nations, and work towards minimizing the effects of the border like the European countries have done, with good economic results.

Were you escorted? Who escorted you? I've read that over 80 Americans were killed there. I guess the only "Safe" zones are the tourist attractions but other than that, it's full of criminals.

The U.S refused to help Mexico when they called for it. It's ridiculous cuz Mexican gangs like Los Zetas have connections inside the U.S. They're spreading their influence to gangs such as MS-13 and La eme (Mexican Mafia). Arguing "oh it can't harm me!" is a very mistaken claim. I'm not sure how they're going to handle the drug war cuz it's an outbreak.

Columbia was (though I am not sure about now) much much much much worse. Cartels literally waged war with the government until a Delta team popped a cap into Pablo Escobar.

I don't know man..Mexican police work with gangs. There's cases where they will pull up on a person and kidnap them for the gang. The Mexican government is also corrupt because they will only hire corrupt officials. The elections are rigged and anyone who dares call out any governor has been killed. The judicial system is disorganized. Same with the cops. The government is also trying to silence people trying to expose the corruption. You have the cops ditching the people and joining gangs because they gave up. I don't know if it can get any worse than that.

That happened in Columbia. Escobar in Columbia murdered 9 Supreme Court Justices when they threatened to sentence him. He convinced their PRESIDENT, not just the cops, to not be sent to the US and to go to a prison which HE controlled, HE controlled the guards, and the troops who were commissioned to capture him were not allowed within miles of the prison. If corruption is the issue, 1990s Columbia was worse.

Mexico is bad. But Columbia was, and maybe still is, one of the most dangerous countries on earth.

"During the height of its operations, the cartel brought in more than $60 million per day. Pablo Escobar said that the essence of the cocaine business was "Simple"you bribe someone here, you bribe someone there, and you pay a friendly banker to help you bring the money back."[15] In 1989, Forbes magazine estimated Escobar to be one of 227 billionaires in the world with a personal net worth of close to US$30 billion (equivalent of US$58 billion in 2014)[16] while his Medell"n cartel controlled 80% of the global cocaine market.[17] It is commonly believed that Escobar was the principal financier behind Medell"n's Atl"tico Nacional who won South America's most prestigious football tournament, the Copa Libertadores in 1989.[18]

...

The Colombian cartels' continuing struggles to maintain supremacy resulted in Colombia quickly becoming the world"s murder capital with 25,100 violent deaths in 1991 and 27,100 in 1992.[20] This increased murder rate was fueled by Escobar's giving money to his hitmen as a reward for killing police officers, over 600 of whom died in this way.[21]

...

At the same time, Escobar bribed countless government officials, judges and other politicians. Escobar was allegedly responsible for the 1989 murder of Colombian presidential candidate Luis Carlos Gal"n, one of three assassinated candidates who were all competing in the same election, as well as the bombing of Avianca Flight 203 and the DAS [FBI equivalent] Building bombing in Bogot" in 1989. The Medellin Cartel was also involved in a deadly drug war with its primary rival, the Cartel de Cali, for most of its existence. It is sometimes alleged that Escobar backed the 1985 storming of the Colombian Supreme Court by left-wing guerrillas from the 19th of April Movement, also known as M-19, which resulted in the murder of half the judges on the court. Some of these claims were included in a late 2006 report by a Truth Commission of three judges of the current Supreme Court."

I traveled with my family, to visit my family. The media shows only the dangerous parts like Juarez where there's beheadings and stuff. But recently I've gone to touristy Mexico (Acapulco), the capital city (DF, where there's crime just like NYC or Chicago) and rural Mexico (Nayarit). No problems.
Lastly, it's ironic that you state Mexico is doomed unless America helps out, because most of the problems in Mexico were actually caused by the United States. I agree those gangs are absolutely dangerous, and they are gaining influence here in the U.S. which is scary. But they hardly control all of Mexico, and if you are not trying to do anything that interferes with them, they will generally leave you alone. Not always, but mostly.

Development can a slow process, one which is often set back by natural and ecological disasters, civil war, corruption, and the likes. However, conditions will always eventually improve. To some slight degree things are probably better even in North Korea, or Somalia. Mexico is no different. Suffering comes from these setbacks, but I would say that overall the standard of living in Mexico has increased.

The fact that you only go to tourist attractions says alot and i've read there's alot more states with crime.
I agree those gangs are absolutely dangerous, and they are gaining influence here in the U.S. which is scary. But they hardly control all of Mexico, and if you are not trying to do anything that interferes with them, they will generally leave you alone. Not always, but mostly.

Los Zetas are. There are minor gangs but the most dangerous gangs control the police force and the gov.

Um, no i don't. Acapulco is the only tourist attraction on that list. The capital has lots of crime ridden neighborhoods but also lots of safe neighborhoods. And rural Mexico is the opposite of a tourist destination

This is a huge oversimplification. There are corrupt officials in the police force and govt, but not all are corrupt, and of those that are, not all are controlled by the same gang.

IJA stands for the Imperial Japanese Army which were probably far more brutal than the Mexican gangs.

Well they have a corrupt political system in power in which has milked the nation's resources dry. The only reason that they are so crime ridden is that during the short timeframe a coalition defeated the PRIs they highered the cartels to create this crime so they could get back into power.

Yea my mom talked about how the good politicians trying to help the people are bribed to leave or they're executed by gov. officials who make it look like an accident. They also rig the elections and it angers many Mexicans. People gamble for money or are in the cartel business. They do cock fights out in the streets for profit. Education is also lacking in a way cuz there's too many distractions.
