A lot of political commentators have tossed around the Idea of several southern states; ie: Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, as potentially trending toward the democratic party. Now I know that historically, the deep south has been a stronghold for the Democratic party, however, that was before Nixon's "Southern Strategy" which shifted control of the south towards Republicans by appealing to white conservatives, who were common among the Democrats until the Southern Strategy. What I am talking about is the deep south not just turning more democratic, but turning more liberal.
A lot of commentators point to the increasing share of the voter eligible population held by nonwhite voters, a group that tends to be extremely liberal in their economic and social views, so, do you think that the south will turn blue, and why?

Well it sure as hell isn't gonna turn white!
Most of the GOPs gains in the south were due to the values voters voting more conservative and Republican due to the association of the liberals and the democrats.
Now that the values voters are getting old and dying and fewer young whites being able to join the middle class, being known as the rich man's party will be less effective, as will the more traditional strategies they have used to get votes.
The GOP will have to experiment with strategies that will get the Democrats known as the party who believes in all those crazy ideas the liberals believe in.
