Good, from the ashes comes a better version. Stop fighting obsolescence, it's unnatural.

LOL---maybe, amigo. Maybe.

But your answer is one I would expect from a bird of a different feather than you: a Phoenix! LOL.

Humans aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

And the Earth has gone through multiple mass extinction events and you know what happens?... Oh things survive, they move into now empty ecological niches and then they go on as if nothing happened.

What's the big deal?

Such a short sighted comment.

It's hard to imagine humans damaging the environment to the point where we die out. There are 7 billion of us scattered across every marginally habitable area on the planet. Even if 99.9% of us died, we would still have a population in the millions. But you know who might not survive a mass extinction event? You. Or any of us. It's so short sighted to be like "ahh it doesn't matter if animals die off. We'll be fine." Clearly you have no idea, none, how intricate ecological systems are and how easily it can all come crashing down. I'm praying, just as you should be, that this is just alarmism because if there is a mass extinction event it isn't going to be pretty. Sooner or later it will catch up with us.

And on top of that the Earth is not our toy. Hands down the stupidest component of the modern western worldview is this denial that we ourselves are a part of nature. We aren't destroying the Martians home when we destroy the planet.

At the same time, there's really nothing that can be done. The only policies that could possibly work are unfeasable and morally dubious (like a *dramatic* cull of the human population). I don't think reducing our carbon output 1% or planting 3 trees is going to cut it. The big question facing humanity in the future is if we can colonize other places and if we can get off Earth in time to do so.

The Earth is not a toy, it is the enemy. Man must tame his environment.

Animals are food and pets.

Man could live on even if 90% of all species of life were to go extinct.

There is a great deal of "posturing" going on in this thread....

... i think that belies the FEAR many have that we are past the point of no return and the humans have proven they are unworthy of this planet.

you should be afraid.

Earth will survive... but we will NOT.... not at this rate.

You got it all backwards, if anything, when we finally reach the mystical utopia of equality, you will wake up and find diversity a footnote in history, and the very next day after, bacteria shall destroy the last traces of humankind.

The End.
