Wait, they're voting to get rid of the queen?

Save the queen!

Actually, yeah, no one cares. I don't think even the queen would be all that pissy.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

Zets cares, because he thinks the vestigial remnants of the monarchy in Commonwealth countries somehow makes it all worth it.

Elected Senate is different. I don't want a republican system in Canada, though. I like what we've got.

What? Last referendum the populace voted against becoming a republic, there is no referendum on the issue scheduled.

Canada is more successful than the US, don't try to be too much like the US; the US is trying to be more like Canada anyway lol

The Commonwealth?

CARE about the Commonwealth?

A useless money pit that comprises mostly of parasitic nations populated by indolent people who sit with their hands out expecting to be given cash for nothing.

The sooner it's disbanded the better.

As for the Queen, another waste of space whose sole responsibility is as titular head of state. She has no power and no responsibility other than to be there and fill a position that involves doing nothing more than using a virtual rubber stamp when she's told to and fills a position that should be filled by an elected president.

We figured that out 80 years ago. The Commonwealth is the equivalent of an old boys club, it does very little and is just symbolic if nothing else.

Of course, Volkov feels for some weird reason thinks it's swell that people should rule based on their birthright.

I think it's fantastic, at least for Britains "colonies". Not great for the egotistic British though.

We pay high taxes in Denmark and they go partially for the royal family. We have to pay for their children and the clothes that they all wear only once. Princess Mary, who is a native Australian, hardly ever wears the same piece of clothing. They represent greed with money that they have not earned nor deserved. Either they should rule the country or step out of greedy attention. Reading about their children crying or the queen sweating is waste of time and kilobytes on websites, and waste of paper. We should vote against this. Rule or run.

If you disagree with a monarchy how is your Authoritarian country going to run, if people aren't elected democratically.

Call me a sucker for tradition. So long as there is a democratically elected Parliament that does it job and is the main governmental vehicle, I dun care.

It is such an unthinkable condition for an American to consider. Many Irish Americans were disappointed by that last symbolic claw of the monarchy that remained after their independence.

As were the Irish. We got rid of it though thanks to the Statue of Westminster, silly England. Took about 10 years for the paper work to go through though :P.

So the republic is no longer a commonwealth, Protectorate or some such official claim to the crown?

So if Ireland were to begin amassing a military there would be no problem?

They do have a military, mostly a defense force.
