People Magazine has come out in support of stricter gun controls [http://www.motherjones.com...]. This is interesting because it is not really a political magazine, and it taking stances like this is quite odd. But it also means that this story will reach a broader readership, because it's not just political and news junkies that subscribe.

Will this have any impact on the gun debate? Should People have done this? Other thoughts/comments?

By article, do they mean they have printed a page with pictures and bubbles with the names of shooters?

An editorial and an issue dedicated to the victims.

The only reason I ever flip through a People issue I might see lying around is for shirtless picture of Matt Bomer or one of a few other 6-packs...sorry, celebrities, that I like.

Very true. And, when looking at people, you can pretend to be interested in the fascinating writing.

"It"s insane": Combat veterans shoot down NRA "fantasy world" of "good guys with guns"

Who came to the rescue? Security and police with guns. If the school had armed guards on site, it would have been a different outcome.

Mass shooters seek out gun free zones, or at least places with perceived gun free zones. They don't go to the gun show trying to go on a mass shooting spree.

James Holmes of Aurora skipped six theaters that were closer because they allowed guns, he picked the one that had a gun free zone.

Dude, everything in that article is completely out of context. Those guys are in WAR. Where people are ACTIVELY out looking to kill them. Not the statistical anomaly that is a mass shooting over here.

And even then, despite all the "feely things" they talk about when guns are actually drawn, people still manage to defend themselves in these types of situations.
