Well that didnt take long

https://www.yahoo.com...

What struck me as odd is that he said 'that fair debate is often drowned out by the huge sums of money funneled to candidates, both directly and indirectly.' which I found particularly stupid since even though money does play a big role in politics.... It sure as hell doesn't make anyone a better debater or anything like that....

He is open to the idea of running as an independent, but given the overwhelming lack of support he got as a Democrat, the only people who might support him appear to be more moderate republicans.

Can we just have a three person debate now?

By "fair debate" I think he meant message - rather than his bi**hing during the debate about time.

I think O'Malley was good in the debates. Despite his low polling, I think he's good to have, no matter how negligible his support base is.

Chafee is more negligible in polling and is a terrible debater.

Biden would be interesting - but who would he take from? Is he an alternative to Hillary, or would he cut into Bernie's base more?

He cuts into both pretty equally. He is fairly moderate, and so he cuts into Hillary's base, the centrists and pragmatists of the party. But, he is also not Hillary, perceived as very authentic, and still a bit to her left, and so he cuts into Bernie's base, which is the anti-Clintonites, the people looking for a "real" person, and the people on the left.

I agree that he wont drop, but for a different reason..... With Webb out now and Chafee likely to follow, that gives O'Malley a chokehold on the 'most-likely-to rise-from-single-digit-polling-due-to-debate-performance' category since by the next debate, he could very well be the only low-polling candidate left in the debate, giving him a lot to gain and not much to lose just by staying in the race.

From what ive seen, people support Bernie because they think his platform is the best and that he is a voice for the people, not out of spite against Hillary. Hillary has the most to lose if Biden jumps into the race, but the thing is, if Biden jumps in and falters, most of his supporters seem more likely to go back to supporting Hillary than to support Sanders, since Biden and Hillary have far more in common on the political spectrum than Biden and Sanders.

Sure, but I don't think he's staying in because he thinks his debate performances will make him competitive. He is auditioning for a job in the cabinet, or for Veep.

I think Sanders is the one auditioning for VP, but I can buy that O'Malley is auditioning for a cabinet spot now that I think about it. Neither one of them touched Hillary about the email thing or Bengazi in the debate, they could both easily be sucking up for a cabinet spot.

Which one do you think O'Malley wants though?

Hillary cannot, should not, and would not pick Sanders as her VP. He knows that, too. Sanders is only running to pull her to the left...that's it.

Which one do you think O'Malley wants though?

O'Malley wants something prominent, so he can run for President once Hillary gets out of office. Secretary of State and Secretary of Homeland Security are probably what he wants. If he can't get those, he probably runs for some other office here in MD.

Hillary needs to get the dem vote to turnout in order to win the election, and she might have a problem doing that on her own given her image problems already. Having Sanders, the most audible voice to youth voters, as VP could bump up that turnout rate which would give her a good advantage in the general election when the election comes.

Sanders can and will stump for her after the election. She needs a VP that is moderate and that appeals to key demographics in order to win the general. That is not Sanders. I think she also needs a geographically and age-diverse ticket.

He shouldn't get that job, I agree. But, not all Secretaries of State do have foreign policy experience when appointed, sadly. Frankly, I don't see him in either of those roles. He would do a good job as HUD, Commerce, or Interior Secretary, though.

I feel like a Biden entrance would cut majorly from Clinton. Bernie supporters seem to be vested in his ideology. In other words, Bernie supports are diehard supporters whereas Clinton supporters are her supporters because she represents a model candidate. Biden is one of those, and thus would cut into her base.
