Bravo, France. When you wish to visit someone (reopen investment opportunities with the west after sanctions being lifted) you are not the one making demands. For those who think this is a petty issue and/or makes the French look trifling, think again. The decision by the French to not concede to the Iranian president an "appropriate" dinner is a political statement worth making. It is an affirmation of France's commitment to its ideals and its pride. Conversely, it is a stated rejection of the ideals held and led by the Iranian president and a reminder that France does not intend to pander to Muslim influence upon Iran's economic ascendance.
Let them trade. But let them do just that. No need for the rest.
