Lol, almost forgot the staged "betrayal" of Saddam Hussein, with a nice rigged trial for him after they murdered and raped his family, and the assassination of Muammar Gaddafi.

Not picking on this, but that number includes "schemes" not attempts. We would have killed him with that many actual attempts

I entirely trust the US to f"ck something up 638 wars. They've f"cked up 230 wars since 1901, they can definitely f"ck stuff up.

Supporting Batista who was responsible for 1,000-20,000 deaths
Supporting Pol Pot's government in exile
Use of chemical weapons in Vietnam (napalm and agent orange) which continue to have affects on the people there
Support for Diem's government (along with the military junta's that followed his assassination).
Helped Pinochet's coup against a democratically elected government in Chile.
Assisted the coup in Guatemala
Supported the Shah during his rise to power as well as throughout his dictatorship.

Thanks for specifying it was Pinochet vs Allende, I should have mentioned it. Though I did say: "-Coup d'Etat in Chile". And again, this was just because Allende was communist-inclined.

Thanks for the other facts. I had no idea, except for Vietnam.

Most of the stuff mentioned here was action taken to prevent the spread of communism and to topple existing communist regimes. The corrupt non-communists supported by the U.S. were usually less brutal than the average communist government; one Cuban human rights activist made the following comparison between Fulgencio Batista and Fidel Castro (and I paraphrase): "Imagine two bank robbers. One robs 5 banks (Batista) and the other robs 40 banks (Castro)."

Just think what the real despots of the world would've done had they had the influence, wealth and power of the U.S. I've always said that I'm glad I grew up next to them and not the old Soviet Union.

How can you read that, condone the actions of the US and say you're glad?
