The 'Establishment' have effectively chosen their candidate with Marco Rubio. I imagine that Jeb will endorse him after a while as well and that Kasich will drop out and endorse Rubio as well.

Kasich isn't going to drop out for a while, and Romney's endorsement means nothing. Romney was never popular outside the establishment, and this election is about rebelling against the establishment. If anything, Romney's endorsement could hurt Rubio.

These sort of endorsements have little effect on the voters, and it is getting less and less effective every cycle. Its insider baseball, has some effect on money and supper delegates, but almost nothing else.

In an ordinary election, I'd agree. I also agree that Rubio is now going to get all the establishment money. But, where we disagree is on what impact that's going to have.

The fact that the money is likely to start pouring into the Rubio campaign is, more or less, what's going to hurt him and help Ted Cruz because he will be, the de facto establishment alternative to Trump and Cruz.

Thus, he will suffer electorally for the same reason that Jeb Bush did.

Like, this is the entire reason Romney waited until AFTER south Carolina to endorse Rubio...

1) A lot of voters still haven't made up their minds about who to back in the GOP field, so an endorsement from a former presidential nominee is at least worth something, 2) Romney is generally well liked by a good amount of Republicans, and I dont think people have tried to brand him as a traitor or sellout to the party either.

At the very least it will further encourage Kasich to go out quietly and line up behind Rubio

Yea... It is meaningless to the Trump or Cruz people, but will make some impact in the Country Club.

Kasich doesn't plan on dropping out until they're well into March.
