So I sent an email to the "webmaster" about the claims of mod powers for the winner of the election and this is how they responded.

I have no idea what you're talking about so the claims are false.

Regards,

Webmaster

Message: We are currently starting a little "election" thing that we've done
for a few rounds now. However there has been mention that there may be
"powers" associated with the person that wins. Several people have been
making this claim, but there has been nothing to back it up. Can you
confirm or deny any of these claims? Or be able to provide any details?
Thank you,

I think it's a great idea, however we're short on resources to develop DDO
further right now. We have to finish several other projects before we make
our way back to DDO.

Regards,

Webmaster

Message: Hello. Thank you for the quick response on unfair voting on my
debate. -- I asked you before about the "DDO Elections" and I would like to
know if you have thought about anything. Basically, my suggestion is that
you pick a "party" from the site which is active and authentic, where the
few members function as moderators. They will be active and take care of
e.g. reports, vote-bombing, etc. This way, more people would be far more
satisfied with the site than they are now. Vote-bombing would be reduced
since active members would be able to delete votes, and we would see other
improvements. I suggest that you look into this and make an official "party
day" where the parties represent themselves and you give a big vote to the
one you think fits best for a moderator task here, fully voluntarily. Thanks
- Mirza.

As this is a single website, where the owner owns many websites, is it possible that the person responding to these is an employee (possibly multiple different people) and so that is why there is a disconnect between our two emails?

Perhaps. Still, we will see what happens.

He's freelance but gets support from his wife and a friend.

The Webmaster is Phil. He owns Webcorp, which owns Debate.Org.
The elections were always just symbolic. The "president" and "vice-president" have no special privileges. They never had any and were never meant to have any. Phil never made any statement promising privileges to our elected peoples, never recognized our elections, and may not have even known about them.
The elections serve primarily to represent membership will regarding the future of the site.

Lastly, I don't think our silly officers should have any special privileges at all. There is no necessity or reason.

Well, there have already been 14 people participate in the approval survey. I think over 30 voters is considered a "good" turn out.

IIRC 30 a smidgeon more than what it was the last time.

In other words, you 100% agree with the Apathetic Party platform. What are the odds that I'll get your vote come December? ;)

In other words, it's possible but the probability is less than 10%.
