The founder of France's Front National, Jean-Marie Le Pen wrote an open letter to current leader Marine Le Pen, his daughter, utterly bashing her. What was most notable about this open letter was his threat to start a rival nationalist party - saying that when he was ousted, many FN supporters were pushed away, and that the leadership has not addressed this, and that Marine damages the hope of a "national candidate" next election.

"If our efforts fail, aware as we are of the terrible dangers that loom over our party, we will not give up and we will, with regret, act outside the Front National."

If he does open up another right-wing nationalist ticket, this may severely damage the chances of the Front National to compete politically in France.

Jean marie is a toxic figure to many of the front nationals centre right target voters but still held in high regard by the far right and the older generation of front national supporters. The fn must somehow shut him up because he is toxic to the party if he rejoins the fold and would hinder it if he founded a new party or campaigned against it. Considering the character he is shutting him up is an enormous challenge!

Doubt it'll gain traction.

Jean-Marie is past it, and I doubt he'd pulled many supporters. He's deluding himself if he thinks he can win this feud.
