I'm almost ready to give up . . .

I feel like there is literally no hope for America, the Republican Party, or conservatism. I feel like a frog stuck in a cave full of salamanders. (I know it's a bad comparison, but please don't judge.)

Years ago America used to be America, now we're Libtardia. That would've been a video I would've posted in response to an angry liberal. Now it's an angry liberal (you) responding to a conservative (me).

I still have absolutely no clue why anyone would support a self-proclaimed socialist for president. Do they not require students to read 1984 in school any more? Did that go away when schools became breeding grounds for liberal ideology?

I don't think there is much worry for the general - it will be Clinton. I would have loved to see a Sanders administration.

Sanders is calling the Democratic establishment out on the lie that all problems stem from the 1 percenters, when the truth is all problems actually stem from the subsidization of the 1 percenters by the establishment. This truth will never be brought to light, and the Clinton Machine will make sure of that.

It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

The book isn't an anti-socialism screed. It's anti-totalitarian.

I still have absolutely no clue why anyone would support a self-proclaimed socialist for president. Do they not require students to read 1984 in school any more? Did that go away when schools became breeding grounds for liberal ideology?

... Orwell was a self-proclaimed socialist.

All the more reason to listen to the message the book proclaims.

The book isn't an anti-socialism screed. It's anti-totalitarian.

Agree, and what does totalitarianism start out as?

Any state. Totalitarianism is always a possible destination; it's caused largely by structural instability in political institutions.
"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace.

Yup. GOP is dead. Vote Sanders.

I used to support Sanders wholeheartedly, now I'm not too sure.

Trump preaches the glories of the state just as the American education system does. He is not the end of the Republican Party. He will increase the power of the executive branch to an even higher level, which is exactly what both parties want. The parties know to trade power back and forth and to never solve any problems, so that election can be about the same repeat issues.

Lol, wow, way to stretch the Soviet example (and the definition of 'socialism') to the point of farce while ignoring all of the others. This is why people don't take libertarians seriously.

People don't take libertarians seriously? Then how is it that the movement is thriving and well-respected? And how is it that libertarians like Ron Paul (and his son, Rand) get so much positive attention and feedback? I think you need to think about what you just said there . . .
