I often hear people long for the "good old days" in America, or people complain about how bad things have become. Trump's campaign slogan is just that; Make America Great Again. So, for everyone who in some way identifies with this statement I have one question.

What era of American history are you referring to that was so great?

An America where Trump is president won't be anything remotely resembling great.

It will mean the majority of American voters were stupid enough to elect a racist misogynistic crackpot with no idea what it means to be a world leader as, well...a world leader, and that is the opposite of great.

Can't get the far right, can't get the moderates of his own party. Yup, he is a winner!

All of it was better than this. The time when America stood with its allies. The day when America stood united. The day when America named its enemies and didn't apologize or negotiate with them. The day when the U.S. government never left its personel to die without a military attempt to save them. The day when the police and military were respected. The day when veterans didn't get benefits cut. The day when faith was a good thing and united the nation. The day when the 10 commandments and basic rules of morality were respected. The day when we had prayer in schools. The day when we stood for the Constitution above all and any executive orders. The day when we didn't apologize for being America. The day when we would never vote for a known narcisistic, sociopathic espionaging mole. The day when the President of the United States would never mock the Sermon on the Mount. The day when the 2nd Amendment was never in question. The day when the 1st Amendment was never in question. The day when the words,"Let's be socialists" would have gotten you tossed out of the building. The day when acts of treason got you tossed from office. The day when America lead the world as an example instead of cowering from behind. The day our leaders were not anti-American. The day when terrorists feared America. The day when lobbyists didn't completely own Washington. The day when saying,"Merry Christmas." in a predominantly Christian culture wasn't deemed politically incorrect. The day when the Andy Griffith Show, Dukes of Hazzard, or The Beverly Hillbillies were popular instead of Big Brother, Jackass, and the MTV awards. The day when the Superbowl didn't have a black panthers theme. The day you didn't have to apologize for having faith. The day when we didn't hand over $150 billion to our known enemy.

Trump can only bring back a few parts of that era.

I lived during that time son. It came, it was, and we watched it disappear as a 95%+ Christian nation became a 70% Christian nation, prayer was yanked out of schools, and the 10 commandments was removed. When I wsmas young that was treason. TV had zero curse words. None. I didn't know a single Atheist. None. Everyone said Merry Christmas with a smile. Go ask an adult.

So, for almost everything you put here.... a time like that never existed.

Wow... I am a grown married man with children. When do I become an adult sir?

Embrace your "youth"

I am not saying that I am not young. However, for this random guy online to call me son condescendingly and to "ask an adult" is pretentious.

So, for almost everything you put here.... a time like that never existed.

I bet he knew an atheists or two. Perhaps even, God forbid, a Jew or Muslim. My guess I'd they were not speaking up for fear of that persecution he talks about.

You and me both brother. His support is a mile high, and as narrow as a super model.

If you were born in 1969 you could not have experienced that. School Prayer was banned in 1962. Abortion was legalized everywhere in the country in 1973,, before you could've turned 5 years old. On October 14, 1979 (in which you couldn't have been older than 10) a national gay rights march took place in Washington D.C. which involved perhaps as many as 100,000 people. In the 1970s decade, the gay liberation movement was in full swing. Before you turned 35 all anti-sodomy laws in the United States had been overturned.

So, for almost everything you put here.... a time like that never existed.

Since I am his age, I can tell you, you are 100% current. He is just pretending to remember a time that only existed in his own imagination

An America where Trump is president won't be anything remotely resembling great.

It will mean the majority of American voters were stupid enough to elect a racist misogynistic crackpot with no idea what it means to be a world leader as, well...a world leader, and that is the opposite of great.

Also, he isn't far right radical enough to court the essential ZOINKS voter.

Can't get the far right, can't get the moderates of his own party. Yup, he is a winner!

What exactly is his political ideology? He's just all over the place.
