Smoking is an issue that is slowly killing people all across America. So, should smoking be illegal? People everywhere are smoking, in public and non-public places. Smoking hurts your health, other"s health, and the environment. Smoking is something that should be made illegal, and have strict laws and punishments regarding smoking.
Smoking is terrible for your health. According to Nation Public Radio, smoking can cause lung cancer, heart disease, and poor circulation- all of which are deadly. In addition, smoking dangers the health of other people. Secondhand tobacco smoke can be just as bad for you as smoking a cigarette. The Real Cost says that a cat is twice as likely to suffer from cancer if their owner smokes.
Smoking is very bad for the environment. If people stopped smoking, 28 percent of sand litter would disappear says the National Swell. In addition, The National Swell also says 600 million trees would be saved annually, and less pesticides would be in the air.
Based on the facts above, strict laws and harsh punishments should be in place against the smoking of tobacco. Without smoking, people would be healthier, and so would the Earth. There would be less death, and more trees. This is a problem all over the world. No matter where you live, you can still help this cause. Send a letter to your elected officials, make them aware of the harm smoking does to society and the environment.

9/10 cancers are random and have no cause except genetics and bad luck.

Smoking isn't AWFUL and keeps the Earth's population down. And people enjoy it.

Why ban an enjoyable activity where most participants are careful about it and consume moderately?

Smoking is society's way of screwing the poor with burdensome taxation and screwing them again when they drop dead from cancer or cardiovascular diseases just before they can collect their retirement benefits.

There is a strong link between smoking and lung cancer, even the tobacco companies admit this.

"Keeps the earths population down".....Thats horrible, how could you support that? You should be ashamed :/

I think it makes sense to discourage smoking - rather than outlaw it, because you will not stop smoking but you will create outlaws. Think of all the problems we have with the war on illegal drugs - and multiply that a thousand fold. Encouraging people who smoke to quit, and people who don't to never take it up - through a mixture of education, taxation, and the provision of nicotine replacements is a far better, smarter, and kinder policy approach than just banning tobacco.

Which you will curiously note I did not deny.

And of course I support keeping the Earth's population down. How could you NOT?

Why are you for keeping the earth's population down? Yes I feel we all should use wisdom when creating a family and I am pretty sure the majority of Americans have 1 to 4 children so this isn't a problem. I feel the politicians who are all for policies that assist with population control such as abortion are also the politicians who encourage government assistance and dependency. I think if people would have to take care of themselves more instead of getting handouts they would think twice before having more children leading to lower population.

Because banning alcohol worked out so well.

Drinking tap water is harmful to our health, it needs to be outlawed.
Sugar? Ditto.

Both of these are much more pervasive than tobacco, and should be higher priority.

So is stress, so let's all be hippies.

Oh, and you can't trust people to "do their own thing" since you'll notice most people are idiots.
There should be LESS freedom in family, not more. Like the outlawing of spanking (already done in civilised countries, i.e not the US of Freedumb) or having kids since you can't wear a condom.

Which is the point of abortion. Not population control (???) but to spare unwanted foetuses from being born to a family who don't want them. Which is sane and reasonable.

Agree smoking should be banned.
