As of right now, China is no. 1 in the world when it comes to manufacturing. This is soon to change according to one report, which predicts that the U.S. will surpass the People's Republic of China in this area by 2020.

Ok, let's say that the U.S didn't have free trade agreements with countries, and put tariffs to discourage having labor in those countries. Because of that, American companies are at risk of losing costumers to other countries. If the U.S put tariffs on Chinese trade, that would effect companies like Apple, but it wouldn't effect Samsung, because now Samsung will be able to sell cheaper products. Nobody in America wins.
