So with pro-life groups slamming Trump for his comments on abortion this week, I thought it would be interesting to point out the position of another Republican candidate. Bible-thumper, ultra-conservative, and profligate Ted Cruz, Senator of Texas, has a very pro-life position. He desires to defund planned parenthood, make it pretty much a crime to be associated with them, and he hopes to outlaw abortion (and he doesn't seem to be too keen on birth control either). http://www.rawstory.com... http://www.ontheissues.org...

Do you think this soon-to-be-stumped-by-Trump Senator will be able to pass this kind of legislation if elected as President? If so, how do you think he can do it? Do you think he even should? Discuss

I'm a Cruz supporter and voted for him in Florida. That said, I think all of the candidates are claiming they will do much more than they will be able to. First, Presidents don't make laws, Congress does. There was already a bill to defund Planned Parenthood, and it didn't pass. So I don't think he'll have much better luck doing it either.

I don't support what PP does with abortions, but as far as I can tell they do plenty of other good. I don't necessarily think as a private organization that they should receive federal funding though.

I don't agree totally with everything Cruz says, but he is the closest candidate that matches my values, and he's the most constitutionally conservative by far.

The GOP isn't gonna win. I was rooting for Trump back when it seemed like he had a really good chance, but now his popularity has declined significantly. Heil Clinton!

Yes, but is that even possible in regards to abortion?

Brilliantly put. One of the reasons why our political system sucks right now is because voters look to what candidates promise to do (and are then shocked when their candidate doesn't do more than 10% of what he promised). Is there any way to enforce a president to put in a non<x>stop effort towards doing what he/she promised the voters?

Notice how alot of pro-lifers were upset with trump, but they agree that abortion is murder, so what's the problem ?

The real crime by Trump from the anti-choicers is that he dared suggest women should be punished for abortion.

For some time now the pro life movement has basically being what ever you do, don't attack the woman. Attack ANYONE but the woman, they learn't a lesson long ago, the more you attack the woman it actually turns people off the prolifers, so attack the state, attack the law, attack the culture of death, attack atheists, attack abortion doctors, attack liberalism, but the one person they are told not to attack is the woman............and it's complete bullsh*t.

Cause abortion doctors don't burst into homes forcing women to have abortions. It's the woman who decides whether to have an abortion, the abortion provider is just taking orders from the woman so either...

1) They don't really believe abortion is murder, and the whole abortion is murder is just rhetoric to take away bodily autonomy of women.

2) They really do believe abortion is murder, but are deceitful about not attacking women as murders as a tactical maneuver.

Trump said "if" abortion was illegal then the woman should be punished for getting one. He then went back on his statement and said "if" abortion was illegal then the doctor should be punished for performing it. No where did he actually say he wanted to make abortion illegal or punish women for getting one withe the current SC ruling.

I agree with what both of you said.

Your avoiding the main point here, pro lifers don't want to see woman & punished anywhere near each other when abortion is talked about.
