Now that I got your attention, does anyone think that they should have taken Andrew Jackson off the 20 just for the sake of adding a woman? Not being "sexist" but men have achieved much greater in America, albeit due to society. Much more accomplished and influential individuals such as Teddy Roosevelt or famous generals such as Winfield Scott, Patton, and Eisenhower would be eligible

This is another example of democrats unnecessarily changing policy or otherwise to seem politically correct

I know I'm late on this but idc

It's immense irony to have Jackson on the $20 bill. However, Tubman should not be the replacement. It should be a woman with massive influence in the fight for woman's rights and the passage of the 19th amendment.

Part of the reason for changing the $20 in the first place was due to all the terrible sh*t that Andrew Jackson actually did during and before his presidency. There was the illegal US invasion of Florida which Jackson led when he was still just a general, which almost put the US at war with Spain had Spain not agreed to just sell Florida to the US and resolve the issue that way. There is more infamously the 'Trail of Tears' forced relocation of Native Americans to west of the Mississippi. The tribes had won a Supreme Court case to stay in the Carolinas, and Jackson essentially responded with 'then let the Supreme Court enforce their ruling', and order troops to move the indians westward. I think a couple thousand died on the journey, but the complete violation of the Supreme Court ruling would have landed any president in impeachment proceedings.

Jackson wasnt taken off the $20 just because people wanted a woman on it instead, people had wanted him off the $20 because of all the crazy sh*t he did in the past.

I am well aware of the bad practices of Jackson, but their wasn't any criticism of him being on the 20 until they the gov had to look for another person to replace with a woman besides Hamilton

Those types of arguments can be made about anyone, even Harriet Tubman herself. This decision was purely for PC reasons.

I really don't care who is on the bill, but we should admit This was merely for PC purposes. They pleased blacks and women with one move.

Blacks and women should be incrediblyvoffended byvthe fact that one of their people did not legitimately make it onto a bill, but most of them are idiots and really don't pick up on blatant pandering.

This is like the deaf girlbwho performs really well in a beauty pageant, you know for a fact she is winning the thing, despite the fact the deaf girl is too stupid to see that she didn't earn the crown but was merely given it because of the PC nature of liberal pageant judges.

You'll never see a handicapped person as second place in a pageant. If they do good enough to be top ten they get an automatic win.

The same thing happened with Tubman.

Those who appeared on Dollar Bills landed there because they shaped the US currency/financial system in some way......
Washington founded the country and the first national bank so he is on the $1,
Jefferson is on the $2 since he led the opposition against the existence of the national bank,
Lincoln is on the $5 since he actually established the dollar as the national currency,
Hamilton is on the $10 since he was the first secretary of treasury who was the chief supporter of a national bank,
And Jackson was put on the $20 since he was the one to actually end the US national bank and also the last president to balance the national deficit.....

Im fine with Jackson being taken off the $20 just cause of his very controversial past, but I think he should have been replaced with someone who influenced US currency in some way. Harriet Tubman nor Rosa Parks would qualify there.

I would put President Taft on the bill in Jacksons place, since Taft was president when the 16th amendment justifying income tax was made law (overtime) by States during the course of his presidency.

There wasn't an influential criticism, and there wasn't any significant effort to remove him, at least by the government, until they had to find someone to replace with a female

Yes, but that criticism was not significant enough to be the cause to change the 20 dollar bill. I just researched and found no bills introduced or any major petitions made to take him off, just a general consensus that he wasn't a good choice due to what he actually did. The only reason why the governemnt made an effort to remove him was because they needed someone to replace with a female, when there were much more eligble candidates
