As you can see in the images above, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton can be compared to Hitler.

Not only does this make the people who post this stuff seem kind of dumb, it's really pointless.

Also....Godwins law.

It's been overused and really not an argument in the least. There's a reason why it's now even a fallacy, called reductio ad hitlerum.

"The Collectivist experiment is thoroughly suited (in appearance at least) to the Capitalist society which it proposes to replace. It works with the existing machinery of Capitalism, talks and thinks in the existing terms of Capitalism, appeals to just those appetites which Capitalism has aroused, and ridicules as fantastic and unheard-of just those things in society the memory of which Capitalism has killed among men wherever the blight of it has spread."

Amen! In the senate it is used 7.7 times a month!
I hate hitler analogies. If you want to say that someone is a fascist that's one thing, but to compare them to Hitler is just ridiculous.

The whole point of it is to evoke a sense of emotional deterrence as most identify that Hitler was a terrible person that did terrible things in the 20th century. It's not an argument in the least, it simply just states that they are comparable to him, and thus they are bad.

It's been used most often in association with Donald Trump from left wing media sources and other pundits with no political knowledge.

This isn't really fair. You can basically compare anything to Nazi's

But that doesn't mean it will make sense, or be accurate.

We do need to acknowledge there are times when the Hitler comparisons are more justified. Those are when they make a clear and concise case comparing multiple statements which highlight similarities, as long as these similarities have a common context. If you can justify your comparison, then it has some validity. If it is based on one detail, then no. I have seen this both ways with Trump.
I have seen bad analogies which rely on a single thread, or stretch the truth to the absolute extremes or just lie outright. But when they provide context and nuance, then they can be justified. If you are comparing Rhetoric, for example, that has more justification than an outright comparison.
The Hillary meme relies on comparisons of two quotes, however, there is no evidence that the Hillary quote is even real, and the Hitler quote was about knowing one's place in society.
The Sanders one is mostly outright lies, and probably anti-Semitic. Contrary to what the meme says, Hitler was not actually "Pro-choice", and he didn't blame the economic problems on the rich (he blamed it on Jews, immigrants, Communists and Trade Unionists as well as the Treaty of Versailles and the politicians). There is also nothing suggesting Hitler was a proponent of Universal health care, as Germany adopted Universal health care in 1871. Then the idea that Sanders's appeal among the youth is comparable to the Nazi education policy is utterly ludicrous. The other two about taxes and the minimum wage fail to show how those are necessarily bad. The things that Hitler did that were bad were numerous, but his economic policies were not really that notable.
The final meme shows an really unnecessary use of a Hitler analogy. All the things listed underneath Trump are bad things, so the Hitler analogy is really redundant and probably undermines the argument.
