Representative Scott Peters (D-CA) is sending a periscope video of the House sit-in because the GOP didn't want the C-SPAN cameras to get it.

Thoughts?

I'm watching this on C-SPAN and the Democrats are taking turns ripping the sh!t out of the GOP.

Between speeches they're chanting "no bill no break" and then "no fly no buy".

Senator Sanders came to the House chamber sometime today to observe the sit-in. I'm not sure if he's still there, because the VA Senate Comittee is meeting.

In response to Paul Ryan's press release saying it's a political stunt, the leader of the sit-in is leading some to perhaps stay overnight.

I'm watching (checking in) on it.

Been great theater.

Theater it may be for some, but I don't think anyone who sleeps on the literal floor of the House in protest is just doing theater.

I am happy about it, and proud of them, but... Sleeping on the floor is not like some real hardship. No wolf are going to nibble off their toes. No crazed junkie is going to knife them.

I mean...these are 60, 70 year old men and women sleeping on floors. It's not hardship, but when has something like this been done before?

Republicans did something very similar before. Let me get the details.

This is probably going to end up being 4 or 5 times longer than that.

I think it already is. The only point I am making with you right now is,

1) its not entirely unique.
2) It (cameras etc.) breaks rules - they could be sanctioned.
3) Its not some huge hardship. They are hanging on the floor, not a huge deal.

I hope it works. I think its time. It does call into question what they CAN do at this point. The GOP can't give in, that would be terrible to set this precedent. (Any time the minority holds their breath, we have to bend?). It MAY work counter to the best hops of the Democrats.

If they seriously believe that this "watchlist gun ban" policy will prevent any terrorist attacks from happening, then that's almost as bad as being a characteristically self-serving politician -- that just means they're clueless.

The GOPers are just sour since the majority of Americans want this to happen and they don't want to hurt their precious source of funding from the NRA if they vote for America.

It's merely calling for a vote on the bill. Paul Ryan has refused up to this point. And, that type of response to the legislation is a mere nirvana fallacy.

That may be true, but I think the Democrats taking the House is a bit far fetched. They can put a big dent in it, but I don't think they'll retake it.

The GOP approval is dropping, and the Democrats are on the upswing - especially downballot.

True, but the same thing happened during Cruz's government shutdown.
