Will not happen.

Sherrod Brown

Also will not happen, ever.

Elizabeth Warren

Maybe, but idk. I don't think Warren wants to be VP.

Cory Booker

Would be a good pic, but won't happen.

Al Franken

Would be an excellent pic, but won't happen.

Xavier Becerra
Tim Kaine
Mark Warner
Robert Gates
Bernie Sanders
Tom Perez

I don't know why Robert Gates is on your list. Gates was vetted for VP under Obama, and laughed at the idea. Gates would be an excellent person to have in the Clinton Administration (and he's a person I have a lot of respect for, even though politically he and I do not really agree on much), though I think he really would rather take a beating than return to Washington.

I also don't see anyone on this list as a possibility.

Best choices politically
Sherrod Brown
Xavier Becerra
Elizabeth Warren
Cory Booker

I disagree with this. Clinton already has the black vote, and Warren isn't going to make progressives more likely to vote for her.

Best qualified
Mark Warner- Senator, former Governor, successful businessman, very smart
Robert Gates
Sherrod Brown
Xavier Becerra

Why do you keep emphasizing Sherrod Brown?

None of these will happen either.

Bernie Sanders
Elizabeth Warren
Robert Gates

Obviously.

Maybe I emphasize Sherrod Brown because I am from Ohio. The Democrats would lose the Senate seat, but without Ohio they could lose the Presidency.

Who do you think she might pick?

I don't think Warren will be considered. As someone else has mentioned, Republican Governor Charlie Baker would be charged with filling the vacancy. Republicans are already on the defensive for 24 Senate seats up for re-election, and the Democrats won't risk strengthening the Republican majority, especially when they have such a good chance of winning some seats back.

I think you make a good point with Gates. 2016 is an especially anti-incumbent/anti-politician atmosphere. I think Clinton will reach outside of Congress/Governorships to find a VP. Probably won't be Gates, but maybe someone with comparable experience.

One name I didn't see on this list is John Hickenlooper. As a super-delegate, he stood by Clinton even as Colorado overwhelmingly picked Sanders. Might be a VP possibility - if not he might be picked as Secretary of Commerce.

You may be right about Warren.

Becerra, as a Hispanic could add to the historic nature of the campaign, while at the same time be a relatively safe choice, and no Senate seat is lost by his pick.

Only temporarily. Mass. State law requires there to be a special election within 160 days of a vacancy like that. Not that Warren should be VP anyway.

I agree with Warren even though she feels she'd be more effective where she is. As a Shillary political move Warren would bring the Bernieites to her side instead of them moving to Trump. It would essentially ensure her election. Biden would attract the middle of the road group but not gain the 18-30 crowd like Warren would.

Sherrod Brown

None of these will happen.

Maybe I emphasize Sherrod Brown because I am from Ohio. The Democrats would lose the Senate seat, but without Ohio they could lose the Presidency.

I realize Robert Gates is a longshot but his name has been rumored. Maybe she should just stick with Joe Biden.

Who do you think she might pick?

Gates would be, I think we can agree, probably the single best pic for any candidate. But he would never take it.

I think she will pick Warren, and, reluctantly, Warren will agree to do it.

But Mass has a republican governor, which means warren would be replaced by a republican.

Only temporarily. Mass. State law requires there to be a special election within 160 days of a vacancy like that. Not that Warren should be VP anyway.

Still that does present a significant risk, because last time that happened, a Republican snatched the seat and Warren had to fight hard to win it back from the GOP.
I think clinton will play on the safe side and go with someone like Al Franken.

Corey Booker and Mark Warner would be solid picks for VP but I dont think theyre even under consideration..... From what Ive heard, its down to Warren, Castro, and Kaine, with Kaine being my least favorite. He's too much of a 'safe' pick who isnt exciting or brings anything to the table Clinton doesnt already have, which isnt a lot to begin with.....

Im surprised Barney Frank isnt getting any attention though to be a VP candidate. He's the most prominent gay politician in the US, and he has his name on the biggest legislation meant to reign in Wall Street (Dodd-Frank Act) which could really boost Hillary's appeal to gay people and those who are wary of Wall Street (Which a lot of Bernie's base was built on)
