Syrian President Bashar Assad said that Washington is trying to control the actions of terrorist groups to remove the legitimate authority in Syria.
"We want to defeat terrorists while the US wants to control them to overthrow the government in Syria. US presence in Iraq since 2006 and do not try to defeat the terrorists", he said.
SAR president stressed that the terrorist group "Islamic State" was established in 2006 in Iraq at a time when Americans were present there.
Although the United States have repeatedly expressed the desire to overcome differences with Russia on Syria, Washington has repeatedly refused to cooperate to Moscow, pointing to the difference between the positions and voicing complaints against the actions of Russia in the SAR.
One of the main differences between Moscow and Washington is the understanding of the political transition in Syria. Russia believes that only the Syrian people can decide the fate of the current authorities.
In turn US State Department spokesman Mark Toner in May said that the US will not abandon the demands to remove Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from his post even in order to prevent further bloodshed.
