The contemporary term "false flag" describes covert operations that are designed to deceive in such a way that the operations appear as though they are being carried out by entities, groups, or nations other than those who actually planned and executed them. Usually, accusations of false flags come from conspiracy theorists insinuating that some other party (usually the government) is secretly carrying out a horrible act in order to serve as a distraction, or push a specific agenda relative to the narrative that the false flag allows. Many school shootings and terrorist attacks have been called false flags.

Are there any proven false flags? Which conspiracy theory or false flag do you think is most plausible?

The only one that I heard of and that has been proven to be true is the Gulf of Tonkin Incident.

Interesting stuff, found this one particularly relevant to events today.

The British Prime Minister admitted to his defense secretary that he and American president Dwight Eisenhower approved a plan in 1957 to carry out attacks in Syria and blame it on the Syrian government as a way to effect regime change.

I cant remember what the name of the operation was or the details of it, but there was one that involved the US government trying to frame Cuba and Castro for something, but from what i remember, it was a ploy just to have economic sanctions implemented against cuba, not a ploy to justify an invasion or anything
