A lawyer predicted filth media website Gawker's demise nine years ago:

Now, Gawker will go offline forever, courtesy of a brilliant lawsuit funded by Peter Thiel.

I think Peter Thiel is awesome, and if I had the kind of money he did, I would use it for exactly the purposes that he has, in this instance. He is Silicon Valley's Dark Knight.

Univision bought Gawker, and all of its holdings, and will take the site offline forever.

I hope that every person who worked for that filthy media enterprise never work again.

Good. Gawker deserves to be taken down.

Nothing is so permanent as a temporary government program. - Friedman

Is it specifically the Gawker site you have a problem with, or the whole group of blogs? I used to read Kotaku frequently prior to when it was bought by Gawker. It isn't nearly as good as it used to be, but there are still some decent posts on there once in a while. And iO9, Deadspin, and Gizmodo seem to have relevant stories each week. Is it the celebrity stuff you think is so bad?

By the way, I never read the actual Gawker blog. I know this all came to a head with the Hulk Hogan tape, but I don't really know anything else about it.

Great! Now we need to get Salon, Mother Jones, Media Matters, Right Wing Watch, Vox, VICE, and HuffPo offline.
