The better way to "not be a part of the machine" if you don't support either of the two main candidates and never could is to vote according to your conscience. At least your protest will register then, rather than becoming part of the low turnout statistic.

I just wish Trump didn't screw up the random citizen entry cuz i've been planning on running for president for 12 years now so I could put all sides on blast to the public in order get the nation back on track by way of compromise. And to think I only had 8 years to go LOL.

I wouldn't....except the fact that you need to literally be a billionaire to do it without selling your soul working your way through congress.....or being a democrat and a minority that hasn't been filled in the White House yet; woman, Hispanic, Gay, kit, Trom, or whatever.

My old high school friend's cousin campaigned for the presidency. You might enjoy reading this about him. His name was Harley McLain. http://bismarcktribune.com...

Good triumphs on his behalf, but the point still stands that nobody cares about things outside of the two major parties. Why do you think Sanders ran as a democrat this year instead of an independent?

I totally understand you and that's why I don't vote anymore. Harley McLain was out to prove his point and he succeeded in proving to himself that it was useless to try run as a 3rd party candidate for any political office in America.

George Washington warned U.S. citizens in his "Farewell Speech" about the "party spirit" in their minds that can easily be influenced if they weren't aware of it. They obviously didn't understand what he was saying about the "party spirit" in their minds.

What happens is that each individual is experiencing their own little worlds which keeps them pretty occupied even if they're just sitting on the couch all day long watching cartoons on the TV. People were more inclined to pay attention when most of them had businesses to run but back then, they only had the newspaper once a week or month to keep informed so that the two party system had plenty of time to put together a program to influence the voters.

Now, because of the internet and cell phones, it's very easy to see how these political parties are working against them to try influence their votes. This is why Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders were so well received.

Nope. You just need to be an overoptimist, do your part, and we overcome the machine together or choose to bow to it.

If the *machine* is the bad thing, then not being a part of it does absolutely nothing to stop the machine, not being a part of it actually makes the machine stronger. But if you vote and be a part of it you can at least weaken it a little bit, which is substantially better than nothing.

You are, but can claim the moral high ground when the elected government screws up.
