So how did that happen seeing we only pay her about $200,000 a year, considering the laws on campaign contribution limits, and considering all other possibilities violate political legalities via conflict of interest...

Well, not doing to watch whatever bullsh1t video you post, but I will answer your question.

Bill and Hillary are worth somewhere in the 30-80 million range. She, Hillary, has written 7 books, and done well on speaking engagement. Bill has written three books (I think) and done many speaking engagements.

So. Mystery solved. Two very successful people have made a 30-80m net worth. Any other questions?

You forgot(purposefully) $600,000 payoffs by Goldman Sachs in recording device free rooms. If she's only worth $30 million, based on her speech revenue totals, her books didn't sell, nor did they need to. Big banks covered the lack of book sells just fine.

The money she made from Goldman was for speaking. As for the books, Hard Choices was on the best seller list for some time. Living History set a record for first month sales of non-fiction @one million copies.

Look idiot, Clinton's books are open. You can look at her taxes going back for more than a decade. Where is the Trump transparency? That is what you should be asking for.

I would guess zero. I doubt anyone wants to go hear him speak, but even if they did, I don't think he is anywhere near what either Clinton can demand.

We might know if Trump would man up and release his tax returns.

Yup. And they have said every year that Trump has over inflated his net worth by 2-3 times.

If Trump is only worth 3b, he is not a very good businessman. He, by his own telling, started with about 200m and has turned that to 3b. Not very impressive.

Sure they are. When the American people pay you $200,000 a year and Goldman Sachs pays you $600,000 for one speech, you work for the highest bidder. There's no knowledge that shehas that Goldman Sachs needs. She's not an eeconomist, a banker or a financial expert. They are. She's getting paid off under the guise of it "being a speech and not a payoff". What does she tell them in there that is worth $600,000 that is so important that no recording devices are allowed in the room? The secret to immortality?

Because if he weren't he'd do like Hillary and charge outrageous amounts for speaking engagements, but he does not. And if he were in financial hardship running for President and doing it mostly on your own money would be insane. And if he were in financial trouble he wouldn't be buying property in the present time. He'd cut losses and retreat. And finally, we know exactly where he was at financially last year. 4.6 billion.

We already know he's rich, not from politics but from business.
Do we? Is he? How would you know since he refuses to release anything.

His money is covered by Forbes every single year. Go grab an issue.
Yup. And they have said every year that Trump has over inflated his net worth by 2-3 times.

If Trump is only worth 3b, he is not a very good businessman. He, by his own telling, started with about 200m and has turned that to 3b. Not very impressive.

So why is he too scared to publish his tax returns?

Because he is smart and can use it as leverage now. His tax returns for Hillary's medical records. Haven't you read "Art of the Deal"?

Every candidate for the Presidency from the major parties in the last 50 years has published their tax returns. But not con man Trump. What is he hiding?

Ask Huckabee why you don't release tax returns.

I would respectfully disagree, when put into context of what other famous and powerful people are paid, Bill specifically gets the highest amount of anyone, and not by just a little bit either. If you look at who pays him his speaking fees, I can see where people may think this over payment of these fees is just another way to funnel money to them, maybe their wrong maybe not. Just because it can't proven it's "illegal" doesn't mean it's not or that it's not corrupt.

Sure they are. When the American people pay you $200,000 a year and Goldman Sachs pays you $600,000 for one speech, you work for the highest bidder.

Not really. The reason Goldman Sachs pays her so much money is two fold: buttress shareholder conference in market stability, while establishing the firm's prestige for the purpose of recruiting clients and retaining them too.

A lot of times at these high-profile speaking engagements, companies bring in people who have really tremendous accomplishments, or who have very high profiles, or whatever to impress clients. It's sort of really nothing more than a show of "hey, look what we can do! We're so awesome, the Secretary of State comes and talks to us."

One of those speeches in the long run probably translates to a few hundred million dollars in profit for the firm, both in business retained and in business recruited. It solidifies Goldman Sachs as "the" financial clearing house, over and above any others (e.g. Lazard... I think they're still around?).

So, the few hundreds of thousands of dollars that GS throws Hillary's way... it's just not that much to them. It seems like a lot to us regular people, but to them, it's less than a drop in a bucket. It's more like a drop in an ocean.

There's no knowledge that she has that Goldman Sachs needs.

Well, that's sort of the source of your interpretational error. The real question isn't "what is she saying" but rather "why is she there," and the answer to that question is what I've outline above: for GS to make money.

She's not an eeconomist, a banker or a financial expert. They are.

That's not really relevant. I mean, I think you're suggesting that their domains of expertise have no overlap, and, if that's what you're getting at, then you're quite wrong. GS has holdings all over the world in many countries considerably less stable (and more volatile) than the United States, and preserving the value of those holdings requires maintaining good political relations between the United States and those countries. Said less abstractly, she creates the kinds of conditions that make it possible for GS to make money abroad. What she says, and what she does, directly has implications to how GS allocates their resources for investment purposes. Having her there, and having communication between them, promotes mutual confidence while reminding both parties of the stakes.

GS has a direct financial interest in world peace, for example. If Hillary talks about going to war in, for example, the middle east... that is going to hugely determine what GS does and does not do in relation to their holdings in, for example, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Examples like this abound, though. They are far more numerous than most people think.

She's getting paid off under the guise of it "being a speech and not a payoff". What does she tell them in there that is worth $600,000 that is so important that no recording devices are allowed in the room? The secret to immortality?

The fact that there are no recording devices doesn't mean that she's spilling secrets; it means that there's a private event going on. At every black tie dinner I've been to, every gala, every charity fundraiser, etc. there is almost never any form of a recording device. Likewise, in every board room meeting or in every consultation meeting that companies have with third parties to help them figure out what they do or do not need to do, there are never recorders.

It's not that there's a global conspiracy being plotted, so much as it is that it's just a private event. What makes an event private is the exclusion of other people. But, a lot of people (indeed, most) haven't had the chance to go to one of these things so they don't really have much of an understanding of what happens there.

Today, it might be Hillary Clinton. Tomorrow, it could be Nelson Mandella (who has I believe addressed Goldman Sachs). The next, it could be Bono or Elton John. So, the suggestion that receipt of money for speaking engagements is prima facie evidence of corruption just does't have a lot of currency among reasonable people.

He says 10+ billion. He has been very upset at people who say it is only 4 billion.

Now. There are few people who would say he is financially strapped. Not liquid, sure, but strapped, no. He is just not worth near what he says, and his net worth is not very impressive when you consider he has NOT beat the S&P over his lifetime. That would be a crap businessman, that is Trump.

On Clinton's speaking fees? Well, they are not a big deal really. The people who hire people like Clinton for speaking are getting way more than they are spending. Clinton is well worth is. On a related note, I found this.

"The Donald earned a staggering $1.5 million per speech at The Learning Annex"s "real estate wealth expos" in 2006 and 2007," according to Forbes. " so I guess there goes your entire argument.
