Florida gives out less generous unemployment benefits compared to most states, but is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. Though they face a tougher time after the initial lay-off, they tend to find jobs more quickly -- with pay similar to those from other states. Not only that, but Florida's unemployed citizens also cut back on spending when unemployed about 8% more than those whose states are more lax with unemployment benefits.
Thoughts? How does this bear on political pressures to extend unemployment benefits?
