Obama has recently given up the internet to ICANN, which will allow for foreign powers to influence the internet as well.

This may also possibly open the internet up to Russia and China being able to censor things across the world, not just their own nations.

The ICANN manages the DNS. It doesn't do anything with censorship in china or russia or anywhere.

I'd also like to point out these are the same people who bemoaned net neutrality as a government takeover of the internet

I'm aware, but who said that the DNS can't be blocked?

I wouldn't be surprised if nothing different really happens, but this is still a stupid move that gives China more influence over the internet.

Chinagate triangle. Chinagate. The whole dirty thing is oozing from this administration and possibly the next God forbid. China bought us. Well...not technically us. China bought the Clintons and undoubtedly influences American politics per the same concepts even still today.

It's very surreal for me. When I was a younger man, we could see that it would one day come. We didn't think we'd be alive for it though. But then? Corruption and evil started moving at speeds unprecidented to mankind. The U.S. will fall in my lifetime. The corruption is moving too fast to stay on the wheel without flying off.

What's happening today sounded crazy in my day. Jimmy Carter, the liberal President prayed before Congress for God's sake.

China doesn't care about the DNS. They care about content.

It would be inconvenient for DNS names to be censored/removed from "blocked IPs", but whatever I doubt anything will change.

While the registrar is very important, and a place where some crap could happen, authoritative DNS servers are well within our own control. If say, China, were inclined to remove some registered domain because they disliked the content, the US DNS servers are under no obligation to receive (delete) that record. We, the US, would still control the .us .gov .com .org .edu .mil TLD DNS servers. So... I don't see this as any threat.
