now mind you most firearms don't come with threaded barrels so it would still be expensive for a new barrel and suppressor, but how and why they are regulated the way they are has never made sense, other than people think t.v. and movies is how they actually work (ignorance)

The average suppression level, according to independent tests done on a variety of commercially available suppressors, is around 30 dB, which is around the same reduction level of typical ear protection gear often used when firing guns.

Thank god you didn't use 'silencer'. It's as big a misnomer as 'assault weapon'.

I know, though I considered it since so many only know what they see on tv and the movies.
There's a lot of youtube videos etc showing how to make one, while you can make a gun for your own personal use but never sell it, not sure if that applies to suppressors as well.

To my knowledge as long as one pays the ffl tax one can own but not make. Per atf, you need a license to manufacture.

I thought one could 'assemble' but the actual manufacture required atf licensing.

That can sound semantic base but isn't meant too. If you mean barrel, machine rifling from scratch, machine ones one trigger mechanism, etc... pretty such it can't be sold however.

you can 3d print lowers, and buy 80% lowers w/o a background check, and as you know the lower is what's considered the "gun" there's plans for ak lowers from sheet metal. I'm not sure if you actually need an atf licence to sell gun parts, but I don't think so since no background check is needed, I'll have to look that up I guess, but there's many youtube "how to's" though they don't have barrels with rifling.

Right on the lowers. I meant build one for sale on your own from scratch (machine it in your garage).
