My eyes are still melted from being required to read from that... thing, but it sound like a good idea to me. Personally I reckon they should go the private school route and make RE optional.

who said those 10,000 non-religious thought people should be "moral" b/c they have Inherent Dignity??

Maybe instead of teaching That.. they should just stop teaching the religions..

Or teach that there are Many people who think all that religious stuff's a bunch of hoopla.. and explain why they think that.
"He who does not know how to put his will into things at least puts a meaning into them: that is, he believes there is a will in them already."

"The science.. which deals with the fundamental errors of mankind - but as if they were the fundamental truths."

Ignore for a second the frankly pathetic reputation of the source.

Thoughts plz

My favorite quote:

"The non-faith beliefs send a wrong message to the children and confuse them."

Yeah, like teaching them Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism isn't going to confuse them already.

Indoctrinating children into religion is child abuse, it cripples a child's ability to be able to pick their own beliefs. Unfortunately, theists will never see it that way just most smokers don't see the problem in forcing their children to breathe secondhand smoke.

This isn't even an issue in Australia.
I never learnt about religion at school, it wasn't even mentioned.

I went to a public school, if that's relevant.

I had a mythology class in high school. I can't recall if Christianity was discussed objectively there or not ... but I do remember the teacher was a Wiccan.

I completely agree. It's much healthier to educate children about different beliefs, including atheism and then just allowing them to make up their own mind about what to believe.

If you had the choices, why would you choose anything but Atheism?
