Has anyone seen this movie about Darwin? If so, what did you think of it? I had no idea there was such a big controversy around it although it's not that surprising considering the content of the movie. :/

I haven't watched it, just read the plot on line. That's pretty interesting, I didn't know there was so much death around Darwin at that time. The loss of a child would be a huge test of Faith.

I especially like the statement from Harley about killing God, interesting motives.

This looks really interesting. I have not studied Darwin enough to know exactly how historically accurate it is. Does anybody know?

It's somewhere between "based on a true story" and "the following are true events": it is historically accurate in a general sense, but there's some grave mistakes or lackings regarding his personal life so it isn't crowded and the film is good.

Watched it last night. It was pretty good. I kind of liked how they used his dead daughter to show his inner struggles thoughout the movie.

What's up with her (Darwin daughter) with the orangutan?

The kids (especially her) always ask Darwin to tell them stories at night before they go to bed. One of her favorite stories is about Jenny the orangutan.

Slightly off-topic, but fun fact: The kid who plays Edmund on the movie adaptations of C. S. Lewis's books is Darwin's great great great grandson. I just found it funny because C. S. Lewis is well-known even among conservative Christians and Darwin is kind of infamous in conservative Christianity. It just seemed like an interesting little subtlety.

Lol, nice. That's pretty cool.

What's even more interesting is that C.S. Lewis also accepted evolution yet, as you noted, he's pretty well known - even "looked up to" - among conservative Christians (a lot of whom reject evolution). *the plot thickens*

Yeah, that guy. I ain't trying it again. But he was wrong, Darwin book did not kill God. I admit the Kingdom is losing ground, but that was predicted before this book or that guys statement.
