BEIJING, CHINA (BosNewsLife)– Thousands of Chinese Christians have been killed for their faith since the year 2000, according to an investigation of senior Christian rights officials published Monday, September 3.

"In the last seven years 3,000 Christians were killed," said Ulrich Delius, the Asia expert of the German-based Society for Threatened Peoples, which campaigns against all forms of genocide and "ethnocide".

Most Christians however, about 34,000, were murdered in the first decade of China's Cultural Revolution, launched in 1966.

Muller said about 30 million Chinese people were killed in that period, making Chinese leader Mao Tse-tung probably one of the biggest "mass murderers" in human history, along with the Soviet Union's Joseph Stalin, Nazi German leader Adolf Hitler and Saloth Sar, better known as Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge and prime minister of Cambodia.

MILLIONS KILLED

The latest claims made by senior officials came after British historian Jon Halliday claimed in his book ‘Mao', published in 2005, that under Mao Tse-tung more people were killed than previously thought. Halliday said as many as 70 million Chinese people were massacred. That figure was not confirmed by other historians.

China's current government has denied reports of widespread human and religious rights abuses. It says Christians are free to worship in the official, government-backed, denominations. Human rights groups and churches in China say however that many Christians are held in harsh labor camps and prisons across the country, in many cases because of their involvement in evangelism, Bible distribution and ‘underground' house churches.

Some Communist officials have reportedly confirmed there may be as many as 30 million Christians in China, more than previously estimated. China has come under increased international pressure to improve its reported record on human rights, ahead of the Beijing Olympics in 2008. (With BosNewsLife Research and reporting from China).

Yes, we (as Americans) have a history of literally imprisoning minorities. Murdering, no (actually, in some cases, yes that has happened), but nonetheless imprisonment.

I see that you're failing to notice that key distinction between 1st world Western nations and Eastern 2nd world nations. These nations are not tantamount in any sense and they should not be treated as such. If you actually knew anything about Chinese history, you'd see immediately that this behavior is nothing out of the ordinary.

As far as atheists in America, that has happened; a lot, actually. There is even legislation in many States here discriminating against the irreligious. This caustic excuse for rhetoric isn't needed anywhere.
The movie Escape From LA comes to mind.

But not because of their religious beleifs. They were imprisoned because their homeland friggin' sucker punched us, and we had no way of knowing if an attack was going to come from inside the country.

A lot of theists take the position that crimes committed by predominately "atheist" nations show atheism is bad. Also, many theists say the USA is a "Christian Nation". So, if you think that the USA is a "Christian Nation" and that crimes committed by atheist nations show atheism is bad, you must think that WW2 asian camps and Native Indian extermination show Christianity is bad. Otherwise you are a hypocrite.

No, what your nor grasping is the people who claim they are one thing for a benefit and really arent, are the hypocrites. I know what a Christian is and they werent. I know many Christians who were fighting for a governement and rulers that were not Christians. I know People who were Christains that chose to not take part in those actions reagrdless. The Christian shows his colors, He shows the love and faith in the NT of love for all and believe the law and hostory of the OT, if they do not then they are not Christians. Just as simple as that. Christians also sin and do as much horrible things as any other people. The difference is a Christian answers to God and through God his humble and repentful for actions they take others are not.
