A chart like that leaves out one of the two most important events in Jewish history? The siege and destruction of Jerusalem, the plundering of the temple, the deaths of an estimated 1,000,000 Jews, the complete loss of all genealogical records, etc. That event in AD 70 makes the events of 1948 inconsequential. The Jewish people will exist forever, but the nation of Israel (strictly speaking) will never exist again.
