Why can religion be irrational?
Why can religion be close-minded?
Why can religion be constraining?

This is a general opinion/idea forum regarding the cons of religion.

religion can be and is all those things ..
God does not call man to a "religion" ..
God calls man to his son Jesus

Eternal life is not found in any "religion" .. only in the one person God has sent

And he (God) gave some apostles .. and some prophets .. and some evangelists .. and some teaching pastors .. for the perfecting of the saints .. for the work of the ministry .. for the edifying of the body of Christ .. till we all come in the unity of the faith .. and of the knowledge of the Son of God .. to a perfect (complete) man .. to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ . . . . Ephesians 4:12 .. http://dadmansabode.com... .. come and learn

Genuine question: do you think you are ever going to convince anyone who wouldn't believe anyway, with your approach?

You speak of religion too monolithically. There are very open-minded religions. In fact, there are religions that are too openly minded and accept contrary claims, such as Unitarianism and Hinduism. Some Hindus worship Christ, who claimed to be the only way, while at the same time worshiping other deities. On the other hand, there are religions that are quite close-minded and constraining, such as cults that don't allow members to speak to outsiders, such as the cult one of my former girlfriends escaped from.
One perk to being a dad is you get to watch cartoons again without explaining yourself.
